The TesNexus Mods site links problem

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I'm new just got an account like 2 days ago and I'm not sure where to put this question, but is anyone else having a problem with the links for mod downloads? Whenever i click on a link like this http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/22961/? instead of being sent to the page to download it I get sent to the TesNex main page showing the browse our files, upload your files and browse our file database and I have to manually type in the name of the thing I want to download in the search box which doesn't help me with the oblivion mods I already have just saying oh you should probably get this so the mod works and just puts a link without the name. Anyway can it be fixed either on my end or if its for everyone on the sites end? thank you also tell me where I need to move this if its not the right place to ask this.

It's not your fault, the links for older downloads (2012 and earlier if I'm not mistaken) are messed up. You have to fix the address yourself,I don't know any way around it. :/ (very annoying,I know)

Keep a valid link (like the one you posted) saved somewhere and when you'll encounter again a broken one, check the differences and correct the url except the number, leave that as it is.

The proper format for the new urls is always "www.nexusmods.com/<name-of-game>/<type-of-upload>/<id-of-upload>", as it is in your example "www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/22961".

The old urls, especially those with domains or subdomains no longer registered to the Nexus, like "tes.nexusmods.com" or "oblivion.nexusmods.com", won't work anymore, as they no longer exist.

But the old urls like this one "tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=26647" can easily be converted into the functional new format shown above at any time:

Yup one at a time - and there are over 100,000 mods here. :pinch:

We fix the popular ones as we find them, ON THE NEXUS SITES. Some of the really obscure ones may still be using the old urls.

We have no control over Google or any other search engine. Unfortunately, They will still try to link to things they indexed years ago - and we have been in the business of providing mods for over 13 years now, so they have a LOT of old links.

If you see a Morowind Source url, that one is really old.
