Commando1701
Hello everyone. I am encountering a technical problem that occurs on startup of a savegame (even after quitting Oblivion) and it also happens inside Oblivion at seemingly random areas (usually in a merchant's shop). My character takes really slow steps that take forever to complete...my character is also pathed into the nearest wall. any ideas if there is a fix for this? I'm running vista. Thanks. MonsterHunterMaster
Maybe you are in walk mode in the game.If you press tab, the game changes from walk to run.Pres tab again and it changes from run to walk and so on...
Commando1701
no; that's not it. It's just that my character will start taking really slow steps towards anything. Like one step in 15 seconds; really slow movement. And my character will also be unresponsive to the arrow keys.
Maigrets
Just a wild guess, but do you have a gamepad or joystick plugged in to your computer when you're playing? They can interfere in odd ways with uncontrolled movement like moving in one direction, jumping up and down, being stuck in one position, etc. I'm not sure about the movement keys being disabled though or what would cause it. In case it is a gamepad issue either unplug it or change a setting in the Oblivion ini so the game doesn't see the gamepad. Go to Start\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion and find the Oblivion ini file. If you have file extensions turned off it's the file that looks like a note with text on it and a little orange wheel. This is for WindowsXP, but the directory path is similar I assume. I don't have Vista. Open it with a text editor like Notepad and find the line under Controls:bUse Joystick=1 Change the 1 to a zero and save the file. Make a backup of the ini file before making changes just in case. There's an Oblivion_default.ini in the main game directory as well. Never alter settings in that file. Commando1701
hmm...I do have an xbox gamepad plugged into the comp. Let me see if unplugging it will fix the problem. *Goes upstairs to check.
Commando1701
*comes back down with big smile on face. Thank you very much. It seems Oblivion doesn't like having two movement inputs controlling one character at the same time:P. Why didn't I think of that? Oh well; I'm really glad you did; now I can return to a reality of my own making :P. Thanks again.
