Illiad86
Sorry for the double post...but I wanted everyone to see these wonderful pictures we got on Sunday night of the Moon and a wonderful re-processed image of Orion http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/Orion2-10-10redo15_filtered.jpg learned some more tricks in GIMP with the color levels and balance...this is the original Orion picture I put up...with the new things we learned. Here's the Moon we got on Sunday, it's the lower right. The details are so much better than the last one. You get way more detail when the Moon is a crescent or a half: http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/3-21moon.png and here's a reprocessed image of Mars http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/3-15-10marsF20-1.jpg
Thor.
Nice Orion pic worthy of an edit don't you think. The wonders of irfanview, it has some features that photo shop doesn't have. here take a look, compared it to some of the hubble pics. I'm kind of in the learning stage of Photoshop, just playing around with it.
Illiad86
Cool  Took quite a bit of the red out though. When my boyfriend redid it and I looked at this Hubble image, I was shocked... http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/TheOrionNebula1920x1200.jpg I was amazed how many wisps of gas we got...Orion won't be visible soon  But atleast spring is coming, I hate having to blow the telescope off with a hairdryer to get all the frost off it haha. Illiad86
Went out on Friday night, got about 80 shots of Saturn, stacked them up and here's what we got: http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/SATURNN.jpg you can actually see some colour  It's getting warmer here so soon we are going to go up further north here in good old Wisconsin and get some good shots  Light pollution here is enough to hinder some really beautiful sights. Illiad86
some more pics  We got our first picture of a star cluster...M13  http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/M134-17-10.jpg and another lovely shot of the Moon, it was a thin crescent, so beautiful  http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/Moon4-17-10.jpg
CommanderCrazy
@Above:You are making me desperate to have mine back! We got a full moon in just over a week though... :verymad: Ah well, there's always next time!
Illiad86
Hahah, you get it back yet? Was cold tonight...dropped near freezing...wtf. Got our taxes back (thx Uncle Sam ), so we bought a used laptop....nothing fancy...I feel bad for owning a Dell again but it's not too bad  We just got it so we could hook up the DSLR up to it and take video off of it. Video is better for planetary imaging...wayyy better. It's so much easier, SLR's have a mirror that flips up and even with the lockup function it still vibrates enough to vibrate the scope and trail the images. Best picture of a planet we've had yet: http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/Saturn5-8-10.jpg Video was a minute long, 1200 frames..200 good ones and this came out  See that little spot there? Hahah, that's Titan  Seeing wasn't all that fantastic...we were lucky the clouds cleared up before sunset. Can't wait for another clear night....
