Deleted1662706User
Alright, so I'm playing Oblivion, and the NPCs won't talk. I see the subtitles, but they won't talk! This is ruining my gameplay =[ Can anyone help please?
nikos13
same problem here guys, can anyone plz help?
Maigrets
I'm going to assume both of you are using mods. There are a couple of cosmetic mods that cause issues like this particularly Babe Hair and a couple of others which make accidental changes to which voices certain NPC's will use. Also the Cheydinhal Petshop has a problem which can easily be fixed with the Construction Set. Little or no knowledge of the CS is required to do this. If it turns out to be the case I'll post the fix. The Cheydinhal Petshop changes the timing of NPC spoken dialogue so you experience a long delay in speech that appears as though the NPC will never talk. Post a mod load order so someone may spot a problem if there is one. If using OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) go to Import/Export on the right of the main window. Select View Load Order and save the result to a text editor like WordPad. Copy and paste the text here. If neither of you are using mods it's another issue obviously. What that may be I don't know and a reinstall may be the only option.
wizardmirth
If using USV then it is probably solved by the corresponding Voice Fix.
Deleted1662706User
Hi, I'm using Cheydinhal Petshop, so that MAY be the case. ytsejam91
Probably you are using one or more mods that affects vanilla races AND are made for an oblivion version that is in a different language from yours. This happens for ALL hair mods (I learned this with Ren's mod, when I tried it) and I see that the problem could be Cobl races (last esp). So If you oblivion version is not english say it and I'll post the fix PS: I noticed two of ren esp's in your load order, please make sure you're using only one of 'em. Deleted1662706User
It is English, and I only use Rens hair full. Any way to fix my sound problem?
Maigrets
If you're only using one of Ren's esps then remove the other one. Inactive esps that you don't intend to use or are unnecessary shouldn't remain in the data folder. The game still reads them as it loads, active or not, and can cause issues depending on how many there are and what they do. You say you use Cheydinhal Petshop, but it's not in your list, so you can either try unchecking it if it's active and see if the problem is fixed or try the solution I posted on this forum if you have the Construction Set. It's the second post.http://savageartistry.darkbb.com/tes-iv-ob...utions-t132.htm It might also be one of your CM Partners mods. I recently saw a question on another forum related to this and it turned out to be one of the CM Partners. Since I don't use the mod I can't help with them, I'm afraid. You can also try unchecking all of the related CM mods and see if it helps. Make sure to uncheck the esm as well. As long as you don't save with them deactivated you won't lose any items you gave the partners or you can go back a save of course. Your load order needs to be fixed. Download BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software) to sort your mods into the correct order. If one of them is loading incorrectly it can override what another mod is trying to do. BOSShttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516 Also when using COBL and the races options you should use Wrye Bash to create a Bashed Patch. Among other things it merges leveled lists which is necessary when using COBL. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 It looks daunting at first but if you use only the tools relevant to your needs it's not too hard. The description page gives a good overview of some of the things it does. It's a utility, not a mod so you need to read the install instructions carefully. Also, it stops the sound of things like arrows hitting me, does this occur?Does this mean your character makes no sound when hit like grunting or crying out, or are other game sounds missing? I think this is related to your load order and the lack of a Bashed Patch when using COBL and the Races options. You should also be using the Unofficial Patch for Oblivion then you can remove the Custom Race Fix. It's incorporated in the Patch as well as many bug fixes and corrections. There are also Unofficial Patches for Shivering Isles and the DLC's.http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 @ wizardmirthIf using USV then it is probably solved by the corresponding Voice Fix.Using abbreviations for mods when trying to help a new user makes things confusing. I don't even know what USV is by it's abbreviation and I'm not new to mods. It's likely I don't use that particular one however.
