o66xfuq7
I am now using Creation Kit and trying to apply Chain Lighting/ ConjureAtronach on my sword by making a new enchantment, but failed. The goal is to auto-cast the spell while wielding the weapon, like absorb health or paralyze. I am here to ask someone who can tell me what's going wrong, or suggest another way to achieve the goal. a. Chain Lighting The way I tried was:1. Look up the MGEF(ShockDamageFFAimedArea) the spell 'Chain Lighting' uses and duplicate it2. Duplicate the Ench 'ShockDamage', but unable to link the MGEF and Ench because the 'delivery' is 'Target Location'. I changed it into 'Contact' so that it is available while editing the effects in Ench 'ShockDamage'.3. Since I have successfully linked the MGEF and Ench, I think it should work, but it doesn't. Changing the 'delivery', which is the only thing I edited, back to 'Target Location', 'Self', and any other options does also no work. Before doing so, I have successfully applied DrainHealth, paralyze, FireDamage, and those MGEF already available in vanilla Skyrim as my new enchantment. However, I cannot put firebolt, ice spear, and those MGEF/spells not enchantable on my sword. b. Conjure Atronach In addition, I tried to put a conjuration spell on another weapon. I duplicated the StaffEnchConjureAtronachFlame, and changed its type from 'StaffEnchantment' into 'Enchantment' so that it can be enchanted on weapons other than a staff. The goal is to summon the Atronach as the weapon hit on the enemy. I strike my Serena to try this change. It seems perfectly as the atronach appeared as predicted. However, the name of the atronach is "Serena's" Flame Atronach rather than mine. I tried almost every related parameters in the Ench/ spell/ MGEF but they all do no work. Besides, this atronach fights back as I punch it, not like those summoned by spell which always ignore friendly fire. I am assured there are just few mistakes to fix and we can successfully apply every effect as enchantments. It is apprciative if there is any idea replied! lofgren
The summon issue is easy. You're casting the effect on Serana, so the summoned elemental is hers rather than yours. The solution will require scripting. as for chain lightning, my only guess is that maybe area effects cannot be applied on contact?
lofgren
another thing I just remembered is that when you add an area effect to a spell or enchantment, the area is always 0 initially. You have to open the effect entry again and then hit cancel for the area to be read properly.
o66xfuq7
#2:I cannot understand the summon issue. As I summon atronach by common spell, I can aim at any location, even NPCs, and it never belong to anyone except me.What's the difference between summon it by spell and enchantment? I have never scripted before, how should I do that? Is it built in CK or need to download another tool? #3:That's a good guess! But I hope it's not true :sad:I didn't mention that and just tried Chain Lighting with 20 area again, but it comes out no changes. I am really appreciate with your reply. Is there anyone with another aspects?
lofgren
#2: I cannot understand the summon issue. As I summon atronach by common spell, I can aim at any location, even NPCs, and it never belong to anyone except me. What's the difference between summon it by spell and enchantment? You've answered your own question. Remember how you changed the effect from a target location to a contact spell? There you go. The spell version doesn't target creatures. It targets a location, and the "Snap to Navmesh" flag ensures that the whenever you aim it at a creature it instead targets the nearest unoccupied space. However if you switch the effect to target creature or contact, then you can target another creature and that allows you to cast summon spells on another creature. I have never scripted before, how should I do that? Is it built in CK or need to download another tool? It's a built-in function of the CK. I don't really have time to walk you through it right now, I'm afraid. You can research scripting at the CK wiki or maybe somebody here can help.
