Is it possible, to assign any other keyboard key to act as the printscreen key? like by changing the output code when you press the key? as far as I remember each key is binded to a code, that code is sent to the computer each time it's pressed, any way to change that code to another? there's a bunch of keys I don't use and that I want to replace with the rather usefull prtscrn key.

I need it desperately to take screenshots for Oblivion.

You can get third party software that can recode your keys, but I would advise caution in using them. There's a few programs out there that can assign multiple functions to different keys and/or joypad & mouse commands, but rather a lot of them have been rendered useless over the years, so you might have to pick carefully.

I did a little search for you this AM and did not find anything really helpful. But I will share what I did find:

If your key board has an f13 - f15 key layout then usually f13 or 14 is the PSC. You will need a third party software to create the photo however or possibly MS paint will do it.

If you are using a Appletosh then it is the function key and f14 I think?

Also windows has an OSK (on screen Keyboard) that has the PSC on it. But that probably is only an option if you have two monitors.

You can alter the keystrokes by using a third party software, by using dev tools from Microsoft themselves like this MS website ,you can go in and manually edit your system registry or just go purchase another KB. If money is an issue thrift stores usually have KB and mice for about 5$.

My advice is if you you are going to mess with the current KB layout to use a third party software. Even if something goes wrong you can reset everything to normal. You start just editing the windows registry and something bad happens you are going to be very sad.

Hmmm, my keyboard has PRINT, instead of print screen, but when I press that nothing happens, not even if I paste into MS paint, what about Faps then? will the trial get me through with this or should I buy it? (30 USD is too much, might get around it some other way, perhaps I might find another screenshot making software that is free)

FRAPS is generally considered to be the best one of the bunch, wich is why it costs money. It doesn't gobble memory like some do, even when its capturing FMV, though its not recommended for low end machines.

Try shift and f14, or shift and your print key. No point spending cash if its something simple that you've just not tried.
