MiNalien
This post is an idea I got from some of the many NWN modding forums. Post things that you think should be requested for the first Oblivion patch here, and after the list gets large enough, if Bethesda still hasn't released the patch at that time, I will submit the list as a formal request on behalf of VGMods.net (my game modding wiki/community) and (though I have no official standing with this) TESSource members. Post your ideas here, and if they're valid and reasonable, I (or a forum moderator) will add them to this list. Current Goal for Submission: 20 itemsCurrent Request Count: 11 items (note that at this time, the list is very short, as I'm just trying to recall some of the various good ones I've read about)Request ListSavegame Naming without the console (like in Morrowind)Spell DeletionRelease the NIF importer & exporter for 3DS MaxAdd more hotkeys, possibly following suit with Neverwinter Nights and allowing more hotkeys to be accessed with the SHIFT & CONTROL keysPut the Allow Screenshots option in the options menu.Access to the skill system through the construction set, possibly having the ability to create new weapon types or selecting a core skill for each weapon or armor to requireDual weilding weaponsAccess to ALL animations in the game, to add new weapons and attack styles.Remove or Fix the speechcraft minigame. (see Speechcraft fix list below)Remove or give the option to remove the camera change when speaking to an NPCFix the map to be more similar to Morrowind's mapping system, showing what areas you've explored, not just what items you've seen.Speechcraft Fix ListChange it from choosing "which way would be best because of this system" to "which way would be best to convince them"Dont allow the user to see the NPCs reaction before chosing something.Make NPCs stop talking to you after their disposition gets too low
o-seven
How about a simple way to take screenshots? (as I understand that requires a fair bit of editing, and then only works for some)
Gaudia
-Alt-Tab support, the game crashes like 50% of the time when tabbing to desktop. -An official fix on the huge font size in the inventory (results in lots of scrolling, and not much of an overview) which is now fixed by mod. -More than 8 hotkeys!-A more like Morrowind selling/barter system at shops. -Something to replace fast travel. Like a public transport (horse carrier?) between cities. Most of this sounds more like something to be modded then to be updated, but anyway. I use Fraps for screenshots. And incase you didn't know you can name your savegame if you save using the console. Which is even faster then opening the game menu etc.
MiNalien
How about a simple way to take screenshots? (as I understand that requires a fair bit of editing, and then only works for some)All you have to do is edit Oblivion.ini to allow screenshots, then press the Print Screen button, no real need for it, but I could put something to ask for the option to be put in the options menu for it. -Alt-Tab support, the game crashes like 50% of the time when tabbing to desktop. Why are you even trying to go to your desktop when playing the game anyways? There's no need for it... -An official fix on the huge font size in the inventory (results in lots of scrolling, and not much of an overview) which is now fixed by mod.I'll add that one, but it's easily fixed -More than 8 hotkeys!I hardly see a need for more than 8 hotkeys, 10 would be the most they could do just using the number keys above the other keys, but I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt -A more like Morrowind selling/barter system at shops.Actually, this barter system seems to work better, because it affects all of the items. I'll add this only if there's more of a demand for it. -Something to replace fast travel. Like a public transport (horse carrier?) between cities.Once again, the way this works seems to be fine, I'll add it only if there's more demand for it. And incase you didn't know you can name your savegame if you save using the console. Which is even faster then opening the game menu etc.Yes, but what about the people who DON'T know what they're doing with it, dont know how to work the console properly, or dont want to have to use the console to do it? It stays.
Gaudia
I just prefer the Morrowind trading system, and I've heard other say the same. Not that the Oblivion way sucks or anything. And as a warrior based character 8 hotkeys are enough, but for a spell based character it isn't. Two weapons to swap between, 6 left. So you're forced to open your inventory and manually select spells. If they would display 8 little(tiny) symbols of the hotkeyed spells/weapons on the bottom of your screen. And multiply those 8 by let's say 5. You got one key to switch between the group of hotkeys, and you can check the group you selected and the spells it contains on screen. And I tab to desktop for things like checking my downloads running in the background or instant messengers. Not like I tab every minut but I don't feel like closing the game down ever 15-30 minuts. So most of the time I just take the risk. O-o
mooncow1
I have an idea for the spell hotkey system... Since you've got 8 hotkeys, your first two could be for switching between Melee/bow, and the other 6 could be for switching between "lists" of magic (You could organize it by schools of magic, if you wanted to). For each section, you could scroll between your selected spells for it using your mouse wheel. You can bring up a menu covering the right that goes hand-in-hand with the spells menu, with the 6 different sections, with like 12 slots in each one. Click-and-drag your spells into each section for 6 different selectable "playlists" of magic. I can imagine that working very well for me... I wouldn't have to reach over and select the hotkey button everytime I wanted a new spell, or accidently press the wrong button as much.
Peregrine
On the hotkey issue, just do what Neverwinter Nights did, and have multiple combinations per number... 1, Ctrl +1, Alt+1, 2, Ctrl +2, Alt+2, etc. Hit the ctrl/alt/etc key and it brings up a new row of slots to fill. And here's my list of demands, reposted from another thread: 1) Full 3dsmax import/export plugin, supporting the latest version. Without it, the modding community is pretty much dead in terms of adding major new content. 2) Access to the skill system, to add/remove skills and fix the incredibly stupid system we have now, where an axe is a blunt weapon, a dagger requires pure strength to use, and a dagger-armed thief can pick up a claymore and use it with just as much skill. 3) Access to ALL animations in the game, to add new weapons and attack styles. 4) Remove the incredibly stupid speechcraft minigame, or at least add a "roll the dice" option like with lockpicking. It makes no sense that every time I try to persuade someone, I have to use every method of persuasion once and only once. It turns negotiating from "what would be the best way to convince this person" into "how can I exploit the rules system to get the best numbers". 5) Remove the annoying camera change when talking to someone. Or at least make it an option to turn it off and keep your perspective constant. 6) Change the map to be like Morrowind's system, where all areas you have explored are clearly highlighted, not just the major map features. As it is, it's difficult to tell if an area is completely unexplored, or if there's just nothing in it to appear on the map. 7) Fix the ugly ground textures so they actually display correctly. 8) Replace the armor/clothing system with the one from Morrowind, where you could wear layers of clothing. Remove the ability to enchant common clothes if you have to. 9) Remove the incredibly stupid level scaling that makes it a better tactic to NOT rest and level. Sure, some things in the game can be scaled, but having every single opponent level with you makes no sense at all. It takes the entire point out of developing a character if you never improve relative to the rest of the world! 10) Remove the psychic guards. A guard that hasn't directly seen me steal something shouldn't know about it unless another NPC sees it, and goes to him to tell him. Also, bounties shouldn't be placed instantly, it should take time for guards in another city to recieve news of my latest crimes. These aren't even huge things to fix, a little effort and it could be done easily. But the top priority is opening up the modding options, there's just no excuse for leaving so many things off-limits in a game that is advertised as a great base for modding. Malchik
I agree with Peregrine on the personality game. If it must be in at least, modify it to make it vaguely realistic. a. Do not let people show what offends them until after you have spoken. Surely not every character in Oblivion is psychic? b. Limit the number of times you can use it on one character per day. c. Make NPCs stop talking to you for 24 hours if their disposition drops to 0. People who have been so badly offended do not stand around ready to kiss and make up. d. Failing any of the above just set disposition at max when you meet since it is impossible to fail to maximise it if you can be bothered. This would mean we don't get the same words endlessly repeated without even a variation between races.
Povuholo
Fix the paint brush problem. They don't react to physics. You can pick them up, but you can't slash or shoot them away, or move them at all. When you drop them from your inventory they will also float in the air. You can even stand on them!
