Tantalus gold used to buy you extras on the forums, like moderator status, change of title (see mine:The Fallen One) or some other things that gave incentives when people posted. it's gone as you can tell and i think the reason was that people were starting to scam and think of ways to get tons of gold without actaully posting or all they would do is spam to get gold increases.
