Mega unstable game with rec mods?!?!?!?!

Ok i downloaded a few mods and my game has come to breaking point with problems, when i installed oblivion i added fcom but all of the meshes and textures from francescos is missing and it is causing loads of problems, also it seems some magic mod -lame maybe- is causing all my npcs to get bored of fighting and stay still instead and worse yet if u get to close BAM instakill!!!!! Plz someone help me and maybe other people with the same problems here is my modlist and suspected mods.

Systematically deactivate mods until your game starts working again. (Maybe deactive 25 or 50 at a time.) After it starts working again, activate the mods you deactivated one at a time. Activate one mod, and play-test for one hour. If everything is okay, add another mod. (This will take days to do, but play-testing Oblivion is fun, and you want your game to work right, so it is worth taking some time to get things set up properly.)

 

When you find the mod that wrecks your game, delete it and all copies of it that you have saved on your computer and storage media.

oh and has there ever been any known reports on balanced races cus that was one of the last mods i installed befor my game broke - by the way im using magick moduals and the xilia race

 

I've used Balanced Races without any problems at all.

 

If meshes from Francesco's mod are missing, then it wasn't installed properly. I'd also suggest checking over your installation of Mart's: you've got some duplication of functionality that definitely isn't good going on, there. For example, Mart's documentation says you should load:

 

Mart’s Monster Mod or Mart's Monster Mod for Francescos.esp or Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esp

 

You're running both the Fran and OOO versions, rather than either. I'd suggest uninstalling Mart's and using the OMOD version. Really makes life easier.

I keep seeing this "don't use DR and UV together" everywhere... erm... I do... and have since UV came out with 200+ other mods... including FCOM and other major works like better cities... and it works just fine, aside from the known issues like the soulgem feature breaking a quest or two that are easy to dodge using the ini. In fact, Hex went out of his way to make UV compatible with DR as he's a big fan of Skycaptains work anyways... so thats unlikely to be causing this.

RGO (reneers guard overhaul) is know to cause the dead AI bug in combination with certain other mods. Disable that one first, especially if its a newer version. You may find your problems are fixxed (to a certain exteent at least) by rolling back to an older version.

The missing textures/meshes is a conflict with / missing resources from Francescos if it worked before. Double check the docs for that and any recently installed mods to make sure that (i) you have all the resources and (ii) you've not got a known conflicting mod.

As for balanced races... I see you have COBL - You may have been better off using COBL's TNR Balanced from your COBL install. Not that I'm saying Balanced Races is bugged - I don't know, I've never used it - but as you have COBL anyways, using theirs would make more sense.

No offence intended bud, but you say you downloaded "a few" mods... if a few is more than 2 and you installed all without playtesting and reading the read-me files, you've asked for this. There's a reason everyone yells "read the readme's dammit!" and "install only 1 maybe 2 mods at a time!" on pretty much every mod post on the Nexus.

You might also wanna install BOSS and sort out that load order, if thats your load order and not just a mod list. I use it and I'm quite sure Better Cities should be much lower on that load order, and LTD much higher.

PS- I know there are some issues with LTD but nothing like as severe as what you have and I've used it for months. Dunno about LAME or SM... I have LAME but I've not used it yet because I wanted to make sure its compatible with Midas first, and haven't got around to doing that.

PPS - DR & UV are bottom of my list. Dead last, with DR above UV. I know thats not what BOSS reccomends and frankly I don't care. ;) The minor problems I had when I first installed UV (nothing even close to what you're having, btw) were fixxed by jiggling the load order thus.

Lastly, with all that installed, I'd be curious to know if your console is screaming at you... and if not, why not. :D Do me a favour, run into a house (assuming you can) and use a simple console command like 'PCB' (Purge Cell Buffers - just clears some of the lasting effects from other cells you've visited from the memory, and wipes out broken shader effects, stuff like that - I promise it won't break anything) and then close the console and count to ten. Reopen the console. Is the PCB command still the last active line? (assuming the occupants of the house you're in having started battering you anyways. :P )and if not, what's it saying?

That right there is actually a damn good question... lol... I always just launch OBMM from the Wrye task bar at the bottom of the mod list if I know/think my load order needs changing then close OBMM when I'm done. Wyre's default display is actually alphabetical, not a load order, with ESMs first then ESPS. But yeah... good question. Never actually thought of looking. Might be another thing to explore when I get home.
