OBSE issue

Okay so I recently downloaded OBSE. It worked for a day, and now it doesn't work. Whenever I open up Oblivion through the OBSE loader, it opens fine, then when I click to load a game it goes through the loading process with the red bar and everything, but then my screen just turns black, and I just hear crackling (I'm saved near a fireplace). Has anybody else had this problem?

My Oblivion is game of the year, v1.2.0.416

first - start a new game, just to test if the program works properly

If it doesn't - you probably added a mod incorrectly (after you added OBSE)

If it does --- a fireplace problem was identified by Kivan as being related to the dreaded "animation bug"

Look on tesnexus for cures for "a bomb" - and give it a whirl.

Have you tried removing the program using add/remove programs, & removing all it's components from the Oblivion folder, then trying to re-install it into your oblivion folder?

Yes, I deleted, redownloaded and put everything back into the folder and nothing happened.

I started a new game successfully, and I'm trying to look up "a bomb" but it's kinda hard =X

spoted this a moment ago while scanning mod categories

(Its the one I got a couple years ago for this issue)

Just remember to edit a copy of your game save!!!!

In case it doesn't work.

alternately you could try a previous save

(Hope you keep thousands of these for just such emergencies)

BTW Kivan documented a fireplace related A-Bomb as a game killing bug (in waiting) for SI.

Have you tried to load an older saved game from before you installed OBSE?

Is it possible you are bypassing the OBSE loader and just loading Oblivion? - Check your shortcut to be sure.

Alternately, Wrye Bash can fix the A-bomb too. Along with the rest of the useful stuff, and the damnright befuddlin (but still cool if you know what your doin more than I do) stuff it can do. ;)
