Is it normal for NexusMods to automatically choose a server for me whenever downloading mods?

I just bought Premium ^_^

For some reason though whenever I download mods, I do not even get the option to choose a server to download from. NexusMods just automatically chooses one for me (SaltLake)

This means I cannot download from the Premium servers. Anybody know how to fix this?

It's a new change implemented recently, explained Here.

To change your preferred download location, go to your preferences on the file site, and find the "Favourite download location" under the "Global preferences".

Thanks!

(Non-premium issue)

I don't know how the actual download site is selected but

it can happen that it is impossible to download anything.

Try select more random site than the site with the lowest

number of downloaders. Just now I end up to the site

which does not respond - lowest downloaders for sure.

And I end up there everytime. Tested different mods,

different files. Always there.

The sites were unresponsive before the change, but

then I just manually used different site.

Perhaps you should add "try other site" button.

You cannot change your download location. I switched mine under Global to European Nation and it still gives me Salt Lake. This website has NEVER worked well and it's been a long time since Skyrim launched. I'm still unable to complete my mod list. I've refreshed the Apocalyspe Spells mod over and over for 10 minutes and I still can't get it to download.

Salt lake is often a very under utilized server and the new system is set to give you geographic preference but continue to search out the least used server regardless.

As for the rest. Weekends are busy server times at Nexus and whenever there's a new change there's usually a few bugs to work out and despite Skyrim being out for years, Nexus continues to grow and take on more games. So, instead of sitting on the page pressing refresh and making things worse for yourself and everyone else, consider coming back on a weekday morning or afternoon.

Me refreshing the page a few times for one download isn't going to damage the servers... The nexus website has been in bad shape for years. I had problems yesterday on Monday and still today on Tuesday. The weekends have nothing to do with it. And if the service is in such bad shape that just me alone clicking refresh a few times can bring the servers to a crawl, then it isn't something that can be ignored and responded to with 'Well, excuse it because of X Y Z reason and insert-rude-comment-here'. It's not my fault or anyone else's except the people running the service. Either they have a bad connection or there is something wrong with the system. It's not excusable to run a website and never get it functional. I'm not one to complain usually, but it's been a week and I can't get the mods I want to get because half of the servers it gives me time out.

Due to the HUGE influx of new downloaders because of the steam summer sale ( traffic is up around 400%) we are swamped. :wallbash:

It seems that nearly everyone who got Skyrim immediately went on a download binge. It should taper off some after a few days - I hope.
