Medbh
Hullo, I'm completely new to modding, but do have some 3D background (mostly Maya and Zbrush, although I have a ...ehn...knowledge of Max). I found a few good tutorials on retexturing meshes, but I was hoping to find something with a full workflow outlined. I'm mostly interested in modifying outfits, so I guess I'm looking for a tutorial that explains: --how to locate the original files (both textures and geometry) and replace them with the modified files--how to package them as a .dauzip and upload to the Nexus site That would do for starters; I'm planning on replacing geometry files with other geometry files (e.g. chainmail for leather) as an exercise. But eventually, I'd like to make my own meshes. I know how to UV map and all that, but do I have to do skin weights as well? If so, how?
baracuda6977
i wish you good luck with this, the original files are floating around on the wiki i believe and i have heard it all over the place that you need to manually paint on skin wieghts you can also find the import/export scripts on the official site/wiki

nezroy
Thanks-- I'll keep searching the wiki. There isn't one good complete tutorial for this specific process that I've been able to find. I've done it on two mods now and you have to pull information from multiple places, etc. Did you ever find the info you needed or a good compilation? I'm considering updating some of the wiki tutorials for this particular task but don't want to waste effort :)
