mechine
Okay so I do a lot of wild an crazy stuff, so I selected about 6 worldspace cells worth of trees in the geck an duplicated them then moved them north, then rotated them 180 degrees (so it would look different) Idk maybe it was free rotation of 100 trees in 6 different cells, but anyhow the GECK crashed, BOOM! A little while after that my grapics card stopped working. Okay so once I knew it was the grapics card, popped the case open an went from SLI to non-SLI by putting the still good card in the PCI-E. The drivers were all messed up, an had to use a driver cleaner, many attempts later, it was working again. But see, I launched fallout 3, loaded the save game, then anytime I VATS something, it's so laggy, an almost always ends in a CHERP CHERP CHERP BUZZ Blue screen of death. If you're not sure what blue screen of death is, it's the windows screen that pops up on error which says something like, windows has shut down the system to prevent damage caused by an error, words more words, which flashes faster than you can read it. It's not really a CTD, more like a crash to reboot (which takes a few minutes rebooting while it dumps) Removed the drivers, used a driver cleaner, installed the driver, tried again updated Direct X, tried again Deleted /my documents/games/fallout 3 (to rebuild configs) tried again Tweeked configs, tried again Somewhere in there I started a new game just to see which proved the blue screen of death crash was caused from whatever was in the save game, rolled back, and it was still there (currently rolling back some more) I kind of feel like it would be a good time to format the harddrives an start over, but I'm much too lazy... Anyhow, I already knew SLI was kind of a joke. I kind of figure that the lower cards would benifit more from SLI. Then stuff over 8000 series really only needs one card. Because I mean it seems like now being non-SLI it works smoother. Really all the SLI did was allow me to run max AA an AF which was only handy in those times when I felt like clarity. phoneyLogic
What's with the powersupply? You'd really need your own reactor in some cases
mechine
Idk, they say 500 watts two rails an two plugs for the two cards, as a min. Dang! It wasn't the save game, I had to new game starts which didn't blue screen when I would VATS something, then the last one I was going to just run with, but Bam it did it again. You can tell when it's going to do it, because at the VATS screen, everything moves really slow, then when you fire, instant blue screen. I've cleaned the Registry back when it first happened too, kind of thinking of starting over.
