Im trying to get into modding and I alredy have a few ideas. For the mod im currently trying to work on I'd like to to something similiar to the begining of dead money. That is to say remove all the gear from the player and putting it into a container and then giving the player a set of equipment and forcing them to equip a bomb caller and not let them take it off until the mods over. Could anybody tell me how to go about doing this? Cheers!

Well, I'll give you a couple points and we'll see if I could help you :)

 

  • The player would have to do something to provoke whatever forces that are to capture them (For example, if you kill an Omerta gang member on the strip).
  • The Player would have to live in a player abode (vanilla game home).
  • After they sleep in their bed, they are interrupted (a text window pops up saying that you heard movement/shuffling/a noise in the other room which woke them).
  • The player goes to investigate, and then they are brought into a dialogue with the leader (one of, let's say, three Omerta intruders).
  • The leader goes on to say something on the lines of "You f*#@! You shouldn't have messed with us! You killed (Place name here- Ex: Smitty Werberwagermanjensen), and you'll pay, you sunuvabitch!"
  • Screen goes black and a text window opens up saying, "They must have had another member behind me, and they've got something around my face! I can't breath..."
  • The player will wake up in the beginning area of your mod, and they will say something on the lines of, "I must have passed out. Where the hell am I? Wait...What this around my neck"

And then your mod begins! Message me if you like my idea. I'd greatly appreciate it :D

What's the difference between the two? I'm VERY new to modding.

By your response I think you mean code script.

 

Story Script is just that, Its the script that you base your stories dialogue and events on. Like a Movie script.

 

Code scripting is how you add or disable sequences in the game (like force a pass out, move your things to a locker, add a explosive caller, and set its range) I think you wanted this, not suggestions on your story, right?
