Build More Skyrangers

So you can build as many Interceptors and Firestorms as you want but you can't build any more skyrangers. Why?

This mod could allow you to add additional skyrangers to your hangar (if you have the room) so that you can deploy multiple teams at once.

Problem:

  • You can build fighter aircraft, but not more troop transports. Why?
  • You don't get to use more soldiers because, for some reason, you can only send one squad out at a time. Why?

Solution:

  • Add an option from the very beginning that enables you to build more skyrangers, which would be stored in the hangar and can be sold or transferred to other airbases if needed.
  • When multiple missions are possible the game could then do this:
  1. Present the player with numerous locations of potential missions.
  2. Present the player with a display of how many teams then can dispatch.
  3. Create a queue of missions to be played chronologically. As in, whichever skyranger arrives first at the misison site, that is the mission you do first. When it's resolved (whether victory or defeat), when you get back to base the other mission is ready to go as well.

  • This would increase play-time AND enable you to train more soldiers quickly.
  • The counter-balance to this is with more skyrangers, you have less hangar space for interceptors, so you have to have good judgement about your hangar space instead of just filling it up like usual.

I once added more Skyrangers just to see what would happen, and the answer is nothing meaningful. I'm afraid it would be a tremendous and prohibitvely recoding project to get this working; instead for Long War we found it easier to implement the one-abduction-at-a-time and soldier fatigue mechanisms to achieve the same effect.

Oh...well alright then. It would have been fun but if it's too much of a bother for anyone to really take it up then I understand.
