gilder3
First I would like to apologize if there is in the wrong section. My question is this: In this article: http://cs.bethsoft.com/constwiki/index.php...panion_Tutorial Towards the bottom of the article it says there is a 3 companion limit. Is there a way or a Mod to change this limit? I am looking to having different companions wait in the same area or to return there if dismissed. I do not know if there is a way to change a companions "home" and if there is, if that would be easier than having them wait in a location. Thanks,
bben46
I know I have had more than 3 companions in a game before, but I don't remember having more than 3 with me at a time. And they were from different mods. The more npcs in a cell, the slower the game will be. So Player, plus 3 companions plus the 6 or 7 bandits you are fighting gives about 11 characters and probably an FPS of about 5. Removing just one will give a big FPS jump. If more than one are throwing spells, it will be even slower.
gilder3
Alright, Thank you very much
David Brasher
In a mod I was playing I had eight companions and would get an in-game error message about having too many companions at about that point. So I would say that the companion limit is closer to eight than three like that faulty tutorial states. I have been playing the vanilla game and had four followers at once. It is easy to get that many followers at the battle for Kvatch. Now I won't say it works well having that many followers. You get lag, goofy AI, and even crashing, but the follower limit is definitely higher than three.
Fonger
CM Companion readme states the companion limit is 6 (game based, not mod based)
Balakirev
CM Companion readme states the companion limit is 6 (game based, not mod based) This means in your active party, following you, rather than waiting for you in a given area. I'm not sure of the number, but can check it out, as I've already assembled that many. In addition to what's been said above, watch out for companions that have conjuration spells. While that won't count against the number of active companions you've got, it will work to further stupify the AI in a battle. And if you're running Supreme Magicka with multiple conjurations allowed (via the INI file) per caster...you can see where this leads, I'm sure. Even with the AI cranked up to 50, you're going to see NPCs standing around doing nothing. And you're going to find FPS dropping drastically. As a rule, I take out 1-2 companions on a jaunt, making sure first to check that if I'm accessing a quest mod, it supports companions. (Some don't.) It pays to check in advance. Trunksmaxamillan
With that greater companions mod, you can have unlimited companions. The problem is once you get past a dozen, you have to hope and pray that your graphics card and processor can take it.
bamspeedy
INumberActorsAllowedToFollowPlayer is 6, but that can be changed in the 'settings' of the construction set. But yeah, set it too high (and have that many following you), the game/your computer will have trouble keeping up. http://cs.bethsoft.com/constwiki/index.php/Category:Settings If you just tell them to wait someplace I don't think it really matters, I had a couple hundred waiting for me someplace, but that was a couple years ago, so I don't remember which companion mod I was using that allowed me to do that.
