I use it mostly for Welkynd stones; it's infinitely easier than shooting the stupid things, running to where they fell, then picking them up. It's not useless, but it's not necessary either ... it's just handy.One definite use I've found for the spell for which I haven't found any alternative approach without using the console is to retrieve items dropped in lava or similar, especially in Oblivion Gates. It's nice to be able to salvage an Ebony or Daedric warhammer or battle axe after the Xyvilai wielding it fell into the lava as it died. One thing I haven't figured out so far is if there is a way to use it to retrieve items still on the body in the lava as opposed to ones dropped separately. While you get the container icon for the body when you have a telekinesis spell prepared analogous to getting the hand icon for a single item within range. Unfotunately you cannot actually open the container/body like you normally can. something I haven't tried but that might work would be trying to drag the body out of the lava using the spell.
