Sinophile
What brand of laptop is it? If it's Toshiba, chances are the hard drive or memory is loose, and you just need to plug it back in.
katashy
Completley forgot this thread was still going... Oops. Glad it is though. I've managed to get it up and running, and there doesn't seem to be any problems, but it is running quite slow. It's well ventilated now (after that incident of me reinstalling everything to find out it was just overheating) and I have all the recent drivers and software. It's just REALLY slow. I used to be able to play Oblivion on high and FO3 on about medium, but now it's struggling to play Oblivion on medium. Luckily, me and my dad are building a gaming PC so I can still play games, but for homework and projects I need this laptop. And when a laptop lags when running Word... it's a bad sign. EDIT: Oh, and it's a HP multimedia laptop thingy.
Sinophile
Well, have you tried rebooting in safe mode and finding a restore point? Also, dunno if I mentioned this in a former topic, but have you tried blowing compressed air into the fan? This helped me Asus a lot.
