  1. Or you will what, murder them as well? I will make sure the world knows of your heinous deeds. I am American, Americans aren't rich like you Swedes(or are you Swiss? I forgot) are. After taxes, I make 5 dollars an hour. Dragon Age 2 is retailing for 60 dollars, that means that DA2 is more than two days wages!! The two were co-writing a book together. Sheryl has also received Death threats as well. We all know that you were madly in love with Leliana, and wouldn't be happy with her death. You and your anti-sheep friends are murderers, and I will do everything in my power to make sure that the world knows it. I already am, in the sense that I write stuff, albeit I am not paid for it. There are many writers on the internet both good and bad. I once wrote a story called, "Leliana does Lothering", the mods didn't like it much, and told me to post it elsewhere. I then submitted it to Literotica, who also refused to host it, due to it being based off of copyrighted material.
  2. Be sure to make a screencap of this thread, as I am sure it will be deleted soon. David Gaider, head writer of Dragon Age 2, has been kidnapped and murdered by the anti-sheep Commander and his pet black wolf. How do I know this? His ghost is standing right next to me as we speak. I am a shaman, and can see spirits and stuff. While driving along the twisty roads of Switzerland, Gaider had spun out, and hit a snow bank. He fractured his ankle, and was unable to walk. However, he was soon discovered by the infamous Commander. Gaider, along with the transcript of his latest Novel,"Leliana dies horribly and tragically", had been carried back to the Commanders snowy cabin. Gaider was very thankful, and thought that he was saved. However, when the Commander read the unfinished transcript of his novel, in which Leliana retires from the life of adventuring to become a Shepherd, he was none too pleased, and demanded that it be re-written. Gaider, ever so proud of his work, refused, even when waterboarded, electrocuted, and forced to play Superman 64 for 20 hours straight. Gaider's ghost has also informed me that the Commander had his anti-sheep intelligence analysts hack into David's Bioware forum account, and impersonate him. Also, he had carved off his face, and has been pretending to be the deceased writer in public. Gaider worries about his surviving development team, who may also be in danger. If you are reading this, I would advise all forum members not to say anything positive about sheep, or negative about Leliana. Gaider is survived by his pet grey sheep, Leliana, and a hamster that smells like elderberries. The last words he wrote were,"I wish I worked for Squaresoft, because Japanese console games are so much more awesome than Western computer RPGS", these words were scribbled in his own blood on the wall of a dirty basement. In his afterlife, Gaider had but one final request, he asked that all members, mods, and admins of the The Nexus forums donate to Sinophile's paypal account, so that he can spend more time playing Dragon Age, and less time working at Burger King, where they are really mean to him and stuff.
  3. Hai Guyz, I have been a fan of Firefox since 2003. I enjoy the many add-ons and extensions it offers. However, it does not seem to agree with Windows 7. Whenever I close Firefox, and try to open it again, I get a message saying that ,"Firefox is already running but not responding", and often have to open up the task manager and exit it from the Processes menu. I have since downloaded Chrome, which I like because it offers more screenspace, and less of a memory footprint(about one third of Firefox's). However, I miss my Firefox extensions, such a Fireftp, Foxytunes, flashblock,ad-block, Stumble,Tor and Screengrab just to name a few. Also, is Google trustworthy? I don't want Google spying on me. http://s-ak.buzzfed.com/static/imagebuzz/web02/2009/3/12/21/if-browsers-were-girls-7420-1236909037-1.jpg
  4. you evidently cared enough to post in this thread. Neither are the police, but Brokenergy knows... Again, look at the name of the topic. Why bother posting in a thread about a sequel to a game you don't like? That, or someone posting with his account, most likely you Broke. You tell me, I watched you do it. It is amazing what mistakes one can make in but in instant of rage...
  5. IMHO, comparing ME to ME2 is almost like comparing Call of Duty to Neverwinter Nights, or Diablo to Morrowind. In short, ME2 is more shooter, ME is more traditonal CRPG. Some people naturally prefer one genre over the other, and thus will prefer either an RPG with shooter elements, or a Shooter with RPG elements. My biggest gripe is the paragon/renegade meter. I hated how I had to build up one or the other in order to complete some quests(such as Tali's or Morinth's), and that you were hindered if you played a Chaotic character. In most Bioware games, I don't like playing a 100% good or 100% evil character. My Second biggest gripe is how the game plays at higher difficulties. For example, on lower difficulties, the vorcha die with one shot to the head. On higher difficulties, they come with armor, and take twice as long to kill, thus making the game longer and therefore boring. Given that both games require hand-eye coordination, they should make equipment to cover your weakpoints or playstyle. They should make an armor that gives bonus to hitpoints for slow characters, An Armor with bonus accuracy for those with bad aim, and perhaps a third armor with speed bonuses. Also, I would like to see moddable weapons. For example, a mod that increases rate of fire, or decreases it in exchange for more damage. Perhaps a heat-vision or X-ray scope. First of all, was the Acronym really necessary? I had a bit of trouble figuring that one out even with the carbonite reference. Secondly, the analogy is slightly flawed. The Second Star Wars movie had the same "spirit"(for lack of a better term), and had the same balance of action, space battles, storyline, drama, and character growth. George Lucas didn't decide to forgo the story in order to add more special effects, or drastically change princess Leia from a fully-clothed but spunky princess, to a submissive sex kitten. On the other hand, Empire Strikes Back was the least popular out of the original three Star Wars movies, and had the lowest ticket sales. Likewise, Mass Efffect was one way, Mass Effect 2 was another, Mass Effect 3 will hopefully take he best attributes of both to make a killer shooter-RPG.
  6. I have known a lot of people who have spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on movie and video game related merchandise, such as a replica of "Sting" from Lord Of The Rings, or an Action figure from a video game. I knew one girl who spent $500+ on Totoro-related merchandise. I myself owned over a hundred dollars in Pikachu merchandise in my teens(I was notorious for my love of Pikachu, hence all my presents were pikachu-related). Thus a $120-$200 price tag on what is essentially merchandise bundled with a game is not at all surprising. Heck, You could make a collector's edition costing $500, and at least a few hardcore fans will buy it.
  7. I won't bother posting links as I am sure most everyone on the site is already aware. Many family members of David Gaider are asking Bioware to cancel DA2 out of "respect" for his grisly and untimely death. However, Bioware not only invested 100 million dollars into the development of DA2, they also announced that they may be releasing a "Memorial Edition" of DA2 several months after. I have some rather strong opinions on the issue, but will try my best not to slant the topic as it is.
  8. Lol this reminds me of my first semester of college. The college had a sort of E-mail system that let students ad teachers communicate with each other easily. Some guy saved his password on a public computer, and someone else sent immature messages in all of his classes saying how much he hates the class, and how he finds certain female students attractive. Even though the messages were so blatantly sexual it was obvious that it wasn't him, he still got in trouble with the IT staff of the school.
  9. Greetings mods and Admins, I had a question regarding the policy on expletives, or at least the rationale behind it. I have noticed that most of the staff do not appreciate the use of asterisks of getting around the wordfilter, or foul language in general. I believe that the rules also extend to sexually explicit as well. Considering that the majority of the games that this forum is devoted to are M-rated games, how necessary is this policy/rule?
  10. I thought that there was a budget surplus during the Clinton years, although when I tried to google a reference, It appears not. Let's say that you get a new job and get a mortage in order to buy a house. Even though you have a job, most people aren't willing to save up years in order to afford to purchase a home outright, thus most homeowners get a mortage. Let's say that you lose your job, and are unable to pay off your mortage. The mortage company would have to pay expensive forceclosure fees, and most likely sell your home at a steep loss. Also keep in mind , that in addition to being America's loanshark, China has also been a large supplier of manufactured goods. Since the U.S. demand for manufactured goods has sharply decreased since the housing crash, that has also negatively affected China.
  11. I believe Jimmy Carter put a wheat embargo on Russia during his time in Office. The wheat farmers weren't all to happy at the loss of revenue.
  12. We should make a mod in his memory.
  13. If I remember correctly, many factory workers ended up homeless when the U.S. housing market crashed. In Short, China's economy is tied strongly to America's, and a recession in America means a recession in China. Still, while America has been accumulating staggering debt, China and India have been saving up.
  14. Between the IPad,Iphone, Droid, netbooks, and all this other handheld crap, why would they even need a handheld game console anymore? I'd rather buy a 360 Emulator for my Ipad.
  15. Ok, I used something similar to what Bben posted a link to. So far the motherboard has at least recognized the device, and is letting me install Linux onto it. I will post once Linux installs. 2 hours later: Ok, so Ubuntu refuses to recognize my USB wireless network adapter. I tried googling a driver, and it is all very technical. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper
  16. Hai Guyz, I am currently addicted to his latest album, Flamingo, despite having literally a thousand other songs on my hard drive. Usually, when I listen to a song or an album about a dozen times, I can make myself unaddicted to it. However, I am hooked on this one album. Not only are his lyrics very deep, but he has a good choice of instruments. Does anyone on here like Brandon Flowers?
  17. The reason a site like this exists is because games such as Oblivion have huge fanbases. Risen by comparison has sold much fewer copies, and therefore has a smaller modding community. Oblivion was released in 2006, three years before Risen was released. Although in all fairness, both were designed to run on current-gen consoles(and therefore were released on Xbox360). As for gameplay, Oblivion easily has several times more depth, as well as a much larger world. Don't even get me started on Risen's magic or crafting. I would say that the combat system is the only redeeming feature of Risen.I liked how that when you leveled up a skill, you didn't simply do more damage, but could perform more complex maneuvers, such as counter-parries. Even then, the combat gets repetitive because all the enemies you fight use essentially one of two A.I. one for humanoids, another for animals. At most, there were only a dozen different monsters in the entire game, and all humans used only melee weapons. As for magic, they couldn't possibly get more generic. There was fireball, magic missile, and ice. And only one class out of three could use magic, hence you couldn't be a magic-wielding thief(the bandit path didn't allow you to learn magic aside from scrolls, and the mage path didn't allow thief skills). Sadly, there is only one version of Fred, and he becomes useless in late game, since he dies in one hit. Also, why couldn't they add in a wolf or some other form of animal companion? Would it have killed the programmers to throw in at least one other summon spell? The graphics aren't all that great when you take in the lack of variety and originality. They had about a dozen dungeons at most, and they managed to make them all look the same. Also if you look closely, the textures are stretched and tilted in many places.
  18. I believe that America at the very least will have much stronger competition in the coming years. Not only from China, but from India and the European Union. Something that a lot of people(or t least Americans, as I cannot speak for others who live outside the US.) do not realize is the amount of power that Britain, or as Lyndon LaRouche calls it, The British Empire holds economically in the U.S. market. A man named Robert Rodriguez one came to my school, he stated that,"If the US did no shape up, that we would become roadkill". While in college, I've met many foreign students who came from less privileged countries. None of which have the educational opportunities that American offers(for example, 25% of Americans have at least a bachelors, as compared to around 10% for most Asian countries). Meanwhile, Americans are going Ape**** because some guy who wasn't born in the US wants to go to College. Last, if there is anything that is marking the downfall of Western Civilization, it is the fact that people such as Sarah Palin can be as popular as they are.
  19. I think Sega should've focused more on PC ports and RPGs than those crappy Full-motion Videos things. Like the Dreamcast, Sega had something really awesome, which they could've used to dominate the market, but they screwed it up and lost a lot of money. I too liked the Lunar series. I also played Jurassic Park, The Animals(Zomg, an educational console game), Bouncers, and Sewer Shark, Let's not forget Sonic CD, which was IMHO the best Sonic game to exist.
  20. The one on the right is Bahamut I think . Personally, I think FF9 was the runt of the PSX era playstation Final Fantasies. I like 7 and 8 much better.
  21. Well, the Motherboard refuses to detect either hard drive, and I've tried all the pin positions. I borrowed a copy of Windows XP from a friend, hoping that maybe Windows might have some drivers that would help detect the hard drive. Neither Windows nor Linux detected the hard drive during install, nor would either let me use my flash drive to install an OS on. I also tried replacing the IDE cable, but to no avail. I am going into Best Buy and exchanging his PATA hard drive for a USB one.
  22. The Dell computer is from 2004, although he bought it much later from some weird book-publishing company that occasionally sells outdated electronics to old people. It has an old Penitum IV and 256MB DDR ram. The new drive is actually an internal PATA drive.
  23. It's a Pata hard drive, and I did try switching the DVD drive with the PATA cable. Neither the DVD drive nor DVD drive was detected(partially because of the way Dell designed the housing.). I am thinking of maybe trying USB drive and seeing if that works, seeing as how the system detects my flash drive.
  24. The motherboard no longer wants to detect the old hard drive, which is why he bought a new one. However, I have the exact same issue with the new hard drive. Interestingly enough. The motherboard will detect a USB drive(although I couldn't install Ubuntu on it for some reason), but not the hard drive.
  25. Greetings, My less than computer literate uncle had his hard drive fail the other day. He took his computer to Best Buy, where some idiot told him to buy a new Hard drive. Little did my uncle realize, was that Windows was installed on his old hard drive, and without it his computer will not work. Moreover, my uncle lacked the foresight to keep the recovery disks to his computer. I have tried installing Ubuntu onto his computer. I can boot Ubuntu from his DVD drive(Meaning that the system detects the CD drive), but the system fails to recognize the newly installed hard drive(which Ubuntu needs to install itself on). I have also scoured the Dell website, but to not avail. Is there any hope of making my uncle's computer functional again?
