We would like to help you, but we need more information. Is this for all mods? What mods are you using?

And forgive me for asking, but have you extracted them out of the relative compression folders? (If any)

I think this is a similar "Newby" follow-on question. I downloaded and extracted Franciscos levelling-up mod but cannot work out how to apply it as the extracted (tes) files are not recognised if I click on them. Do I need to copy the extracted mod files into the Oblivion folder, & do they need renaming?

Actually better still is there a mod-installing guide about the forum anywhere?

Many thanks

Generally the more thorough mod makers include a readme with their mods, though this is not always a sign of quality it does help beginners.

As a rule ALL .esp or .esm files must be placed in the Oblivion/Data/ folder. Then activated in the data files menu on the start up screen. Extra files such as meshes and textures are to be placed in their respective folders also found in the Oblivion/Data/ directory.

Have you downloaded the construction kit off the Elder Scrolls site?

Thanks for that, I knew I was missing something. Do I need the construction kit to run the mods? Well I had better head off to the Elder Scrolls site and have a look. I recall Morrowind shipped a constuction kit with the game.

Thanks again

Ian

EDIT:

Okay, I think we have this sorted. Thanks again Stampede. I downloaded the TES Kit and now the mod files are recognised as Oblivion plugin files. I have copied them into the Data folder so hopefully all will work.

By the way I notice you are in South Africa, I used to work for Engen and visited may times. Had some great times there.

No problem Ian, let me know if it works. I merged your posts together as double posting is seen as a no-no on the forums.
