Transfering faces, - is it possible ?

Its possible. Unfortunately...I dont know the full details.

What you need to do is create the morph for that particular face in the toolset. Or, find a way to load that particular morph up in toolset. Thats the part I dont know about.

But once you've done that, you just save it with the same filename as leliana's (hf_genfl_leliana.mor) without the parenthesis, and then drop it into your override folder.

C:\Users\username\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override thats the location in vista.

I do know that there's a chr file that has all the listed things about a face. face, hair, eyes, mouth, etc. You cant actually edit that to use as the morph itself, but it can give you all the details that you need to make a morph from scratch in toolset.

keep in mind that I made all of my characters in the character creator tool, so the location could be different if you've made them in game.

c:\Users\username\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Pre-release Characters thats the location in vista that youll need to point the toolset to look in.

I tried finding the morph files for my characters, but didnt have any luck.

sorry that it's not a full answer, but thats the best of my knowledge ;)

Thanks for your help so far Darkewolf. I have searched for player character morph files too

without any luck.

I haven't made any mods for DA yet , because I heard (read) about many problems with the toolset

on the Win XP platform. So therefore I haven't installed it on my PC. Hope they will release a patched version

of the toolset soon , - so I can get started.

In Oblivion we have the program WryeBash for transfering faces , among other things, - and I was hoping

there would be a similar third party solution for DA.

Thanks for your help anyway.

yeah, unfortunately, 3rd party tools are being slow to be released. :(

Meh, the toolset has issues period, regardless of what OS its on, but there;s a lot of cases where it doesn't like 64 bit OS like win7 or Vista64.

I honestly wouldnt hold my breath for a new toolset to come out. I dont know if they even have any plans for updating it.

I'm actually planning on doing some playing around with morphs in the toolset sometime this week. Might end up being till the weekend tho. But will try to let you know how it goes.

Well, I managed to play around a little with it last night. I found the character chr file that I wanted to use, and drag n dropped it into the toolset. Toolcrap opened it ok, but a lot of the the settings aren't labeled! They're listed as 0, 1, 2, 3, etc! Where in the morph editor, they ARE labled! GRRRRRRR.

Well to locate the chr file is a progress  , I have only found .das files in the characters folder\....\...

It seems that a lot of experimenting is needed , due to the lack of labels.

I fully understand if you don't want to spend a lot of time doing this , but on the other hand;

to be able to design you own team would surely be a great achievement.

like I said, my chr files are in C:\Users\DarkeWolf\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Pre-release Characters if you're on a different version of the OS, you can take a shortcut, as most of them have a link to the documents folder listed in the start menu. just click on start, and you should see it somewhere there in the list. from there just navigate to bioware/dragonage/pre-release characters.

You can also find out the particular morph model number for the morph by opening up a savegame in the toolset. there's a tute for how to do that.

http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=449 the difference is that you rename the file to leliana's or Zev's or whoever's face morph and drop it into Override folder.

Two issues here on this method for me..... 1) That file doesn't list the facemorph in my save file. its just totally blank. Most people dont have that problem tho.

2) Toolset crashes when I try to open that save file most of the time, because it tries to suck down more ram than my system has. :wallbash:

Actually, this is something that I'm trying to figure out. I'm wanting to change the faces of Alistaire and Zev. I wanted to do Sten too, but there's not a lot of additional morphs available for qunari just yet. At least not of the variety that I need. :(

My issue is that I end up getting frustrated with the toolcrap, so I have to take a break from it. Then ADD kicks in, or I get busy with something else, and I forget about the project for a while :whistling:

Thank you! I can understand people's frustrations with installing mods. I've been playing with mods for years ("The Sims" games). I remember how it felt having no idea what to do with these files I just downloaded. Plus, it's always nice when you make a post asking for help and someone actually answers you (without being a snob). ;)
