kittenkiss
So far I have only found 70 or so caves with only one being really great as far as number of chests is concerned. That is called Crayfish Cave and it's ... just northeast of the central city near another cave that starts with a W. I'd get a screeny of the map location but my screenshot function doesn't work (yes Ive messed with the ini files). If you find it, there are a zillion chests - all over the place even stuffed into trashcans. So - where's the best cave/fort/whatever that you've found?! ^___^

FastRedPonyCar
I can't even count how many random caves I've found but there's one I just came from. It was a single level ruins type place mabey just east or north east of Cheyndnhal littered with Orcs. Not a whole lot in there. Some whelkyn stones about 2K gold and a set of DAEDRIC GREAVES. :D As of now, I think the best place to get stuff is the oblivion planes. If you're high enough leveled, you'll fight a lot of Dremora Valkynaz and Xivilai warriors who all swing Daedric war hammers and usually have a perfect jewel of sorts on them. I collect as many of those and the Daedric Claymores as well as their hearts and any spells they carry. It doesn't seem like a lot but when those war hammers/axes/claymores are worth up to $5000 EACH and the enchanted ones are worth more, topped with the fact that collecting all those random spells and daedra hearts, it all adds up to serious cash. I've got more money than I know what to do with. It may be a tough fight through oblivion for some lower level characters but the loot found in those red pods as you get to around level 20 or higher and start fighting the top level Daedric warriors, the value of their weapons goes up pretty steep and it's a big pay off if you survive. Rausner
If u get something worth like 5k+ where r u supposed to sell it to get your money's worth for it. Don't u need to have mastered mercantile to get that much money from them?
VaanicOne
There's a cave north of Leyawiin called Rock-something (I forget). Anyway - It's full of Maruaders and Black Bow bandits all fighting each other. If you're at a high level - then you can kill them all (or at least the survivers) and get TONS of expensive loot from them all.
Latholas
thats interesting vaanic :D.for those who want them u usually find goblins in mines. so far, goblins had the most interesting loot for me, like the dwarven shield i picked off a berserker.i once also found (dont ask me where) an elven ruin with ghosts, zombies and skeletons all fighting to conquer the ruin, quite fun when u enjoy the show and just slay the survivor...fastredponycar just look in your stats and something says: places found:...EDIT: oh i went there yesterday, its called rockmilk cave, though i should've been there at higher level cuz the loot was not that interesting except for 40 ebony arrows that are gonna be gone after 5 min. kittenkiss
Ahhh yes I went looking for that, they're all fighting each other. Same thing happened in one of the quest caves I went to - someone cast up a summon and suddenly they all turned on the summon and then on each other. It was amusing to say the least! ^___^
Switch
Just realised this should be in Spoilers. Moving... I'm not really into chests for my loot. They all seem to have Hard locks, or none, and most of the time only contain about 70 gold, and maybe a soulgem if I'm lucky. Very nerfed compared to the treasure troves you got in Morrowind. :P If I want money-making loot I tend to visit vampire dens and slaughter the lot of 'em... they always wear nice valuable armour. Barren Cave just west of Cheydinhal is a good place to find them.
