mayorez
I just got the game and downloaded a few MODs. My question is, how do I launch the game once MODs are downloaded? Do I use the Nexus mod manager and select Launch Dragon Age Custom? Any help is appreciated!
WolfenWarden
Heyas Mayorez :DThe nexus mod manager is just a downloader. What you need is an installer, like DAMM or DAM. You will also need a program like winzip, winrar, or (my preference) 7zip, as most of the mods are created as .dazip which is a file format that you cant upload to the nexus, it has to be packed in a rar zip or 7z file to upload. There's a complete walkthrough of the process located here- http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Using_Dragon_Age_Mods_for_Dummies Happy modding! :D [Edit] Thandal also posted a good reply to a very similar question in this thread- http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1825800-please-help-the-new-kid/ [/Edit] Edited July 1, 2014 by WolfenWarden
Thandal
Well, WolfenWarden is not quite correct. NMM, (and DAMM, and DAM, and even DAUpdater) are all "mod managers". And they can all handle installing the kinds of mods they were made to recognize. You don't do anything "special" to start the game and use the mods once you've installed them. The key is getting the mods you've downloaded to install properly before you start the game. The article linked above discusses the various types and how each needs to be installed. The most important thing is to read and heed the author's instructions regarding installation, adapting those instructions to whatever "manager" you're using. I use DAMM for ".dazip" and ".override" mods, NMM for some of the general ones, and strictly manual management for CC mods (using the CharGenMorph Compiler to automate their integration of the ".xml" file.) You'll have to experiment for yourself and decide what works for you!
