BATTLEFIELD - War Playground

Hi there,

 

i plan to make an new Area that is just for an real Medieval Warfare Simulating. At the Time iam still working on some other Stuff, but when iam finnish, i will start with this Battlefield Idea.

 

Her is my Plan:

 

An new Area such as huge the county of Bruma that sould looks like an grey and desolate Warzone. Maybee like the Warhammer World in Mark of Chaos.

There sould be no Mayor Citys, just 2 small Castles, some Villages, an Fortruin and some other things. But thats not certain yet.

The Villages sould be like the Tribal Huts in the Elswyre Mod, what makes it easyer to creat settlement without that hole Interior Chaos.

 

As Fractions ive plan Half Orcs, Mercenarys, armed countrymen, the Duke how rules one castle and his lansquenet, Robber Knigts, and some armored Skeletons leading by an vampire witcher.

 

The plot

starts with an simple quest, that the player hear some rumors about an War in an littlle county between Hammerfall and Skyrim in the mountains. So the Player goes not by the use on an Portal in this Worldspace, but rather walk through an forgotten Mountain Pass or an Cave System. That the Player found an abandoned House with an diary and than he can start to build his own forces up.

 

 

Thats sould be no Problem for me, but i need somebody that can make scripts, to make this Battlefield into an "Servant of the Dawn" War Simulation. With all this Stuff like enemy Attacks, recruiting new Soldiers, Healer, ordering Attacks and so on.

 

Is there any interessting into a mod like this? iam not sure becaus my last mod has not so many feedback.

Are the people realy more interested in virtuel "Sex" and Pregnancy??

 

For some of us, yes... I'm not ashamed to say it. :smile:

 

Your idea is good, but making a big deal of it in order to attract attention makes the opposite happen. Though in a sense that makes this post hypocritical.

 

In essence of this mod as an idea, I must warn you of a few game engine limits (Which may or may not have work arounds.)

 

1. Fielding large amounts of NPCs on the field at once will cause them to freeze, and not do anything. Not exactly sure why this is, however, this makes large-scale combat impossible in oblivion. This itself makes many modders drop the idea on the spot. I believe the engine can use up to 15-20 NPCS before this engine-limit is viable. Not a problem for tactical warfare, but don't count on a helms deep.

 

2. Applies to the above statement, but do you truly believe that most computers that play Oblivion can handle a large combat situation? I know my game crashes when I have 50-60 NPCs on the field (With scenery).

 

Now here comes my wave of positive karma....

 

1. I'm always interested in a new plot. Something different, that I can sink my teeth in. True with every person on the nexus. Sex and Pregnancy is different, and after 4 years of playing this game non-stop, ANYTHING will peek your interest.

 

2. As for the plot itself, there have been attempts of doing something similar. Servant of the dawn, as you mentioned, is a good example of two opposing forces. I think the boys at the Tamriel Rebuilt project are also doing something similar.

 

Suggestions....

 

1. Kill us with kindness, please.

 

2. If you want scripts that are similar to Servant of the Dawn, then copy scripts from servant of the dawn. A simpler script may be found in this mod. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12591 As far as I can remember, this mod allows you to launch a large invasion of the different cities of Tamriel when you are sheogorath. Of course, you should try this mod. It has all of the game-engine problems listed above, and will help you determine what size you want use for your mod.

And, yeah, i know this Rise of Sheogorath Mod. I was a good Idea but a crappy conversion with detailless Dungeons and Actors with boring Dialogs.

Sorry, just making sure. Your lack of colloquial sentence structure made me think you were new to it all, but you might even know more than me. My apologies.

 

So what do you need specifically? RoS should supply a decent script. Scripting only takes 5-10 weeks of headache over heels to learn. I don't think I have enough time to create the script you want (college and the likes), but I can point to simple scripts that give the same result and will help you grasp the basics of scripting. I'm afraid that's all.

while i love the concept of a somewhat large battle, any battles with alot of npc usualy messes framerate all to heck. at least with my laptop.

 

the best way to get help on it is to start working on it yourself and show whats hoing on with it and then people will join later.

 

most amazing mods out there started with the idea and the creator begining and laying the building block for the mod him/herself.

Sorry, I frankly have zero interest in your idea.

 

Make it a beautifully verdant castle courtyard with a realistic moat and a horse shoe shaped stands with villagers (like from the arena) with the nobles and player seated across and above them in an "honor box grandstand".

 

Make the battle Jousting on horseback.

 

Then I might be in.
