Erikdeda1
So is it possible to make the system just like in Fallout 3 where instead of a standstill you can still walk slowly?
Argomirr
Funny, I was thinking about the exact same thing not long ago. If I have some time soon, I might give it a try. It'll require OBSE though.
Erikdeda1
No prob, OBSE isn't a problem with me.
Kendo 2
This is a great idea. Being able to use repair hammers when enemies are nearby would be good too. And a Pipboy light, maybe... ;)
Argomirr
Heh heh. Thanks for reminding me. :P I'll see if I can get it to work right away.
David Brasher
Using repair hammers when enemies are nearby is too much. I don't think it sounds realistic. Can you imagine lighting a fire, heating a forge, fetching a bucket of water, positioning your anvil, hammering on your gear and making lots of noise, and doing all the other things with pliers and tongs, and stones, and files and things all while an enemy is nearby and watching you? It just doesn't seem possible. (How do you carry an anvil in your backpack anyway?) In real life I wouldn't want to do any detailed craftwork while enemies were nearby. I think repair hammers are a really fake part of Oblivion. I think it was better in Diablo. Only a certain character class could repair armor in the field, and that permanently damaged the repaired item. You usually had to go to town to have a blacksmith repair your gear. Along with this, the gear was much more durable. Your light armor would not be utterly destroyed in two encounters like it is in Oblivion.

AgentGrady
I think that this is a very good idea The Oblivion Over-Encumbered was a little unfair
Jenrai
Oh how I love the Midas Chest... Solves all those ebil encumberance problems. As for using repair hammers and such in combat, its already available. Its called Wrye Bash peeple. =D Seriously though, I do think the whole picking up more than you could ever possibly hope to carry thing is a bit daft. I mean come on... how big do you think a rucksack or you toon's pockets would be? Before today I've caught myself running around with a couple of spare swords, a shield as well as my offhand weapon, and three FULL suits of armour. And I still had room for more. Definately not a "realism" mod this one, although it is a good idea for the "sandbox" type player who goes dungeon diving and doesn't do much else. Vagrant0
Bump. Please do not bump topics with single line responses. If nobody else has answered in a thread, and you have nothing additional to contribute, then the idea probably wasn't interesting enough or worthwhile enough for people to show an interest in. Admittedly, people seem to have been more interested in ratting you out to the admin for bumping your thread instead of just providing a reasonable answer to the thread, so just assume that everyone involved here is at fault... To answer your question. While yes, technically such a system could be done, it would almost certainly screw with any leveling mod as such a system would have to make dynamic changes to the players speed stat. I'm almost certain that someone has done a mod like this before, so I would suggest searching the database for encumbrance mods. Regardless, the fact that you come to a complete stop for going overweight cannot be changed, so the only thing that such a system would accomplish is making you move slower in varying degrees up until you come to a complete stop... which would kinda suck outright since the player moves so damn slow anyway. As long as you aren't looking for some sort of immersion mod, you might be better off just looking for a mod that increases carry weight (there are a few hundred) or just making it a point to carry around potions of feather and strength.
