tsunami17
I was playing Oblivion amazingly until the last couple of days. My computer is top notch, and the graphics are set on full. Suddenly, All of the distant mountains became out of proportion and the clipping messed up. The mountains were different, messed up, shapes, and went into the towns, and didn't load when the level changed. It's hard to explain. I don't have any idea how to fix. Here's what it looks like: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/Tsunami17/ScreenShot0.jpg I have mods installed, but they were either installed way before this problem, or way after this problem. I've also noticed that this happened right after I installed the TES constuction set.
lycantrophic
Seems like a video card overheating problem to me. Did you check the temperature? If you have overclocking, try turning back to normal values. And it would be better if there was a bigger photo.
Switch
I don't know - it doesn't look like everything is distorting, which would happen if it was overheating, I think. Just the distant land. But yeah making sure the temp isn't too high is always a good idea. Moving this to Technical Support...
Alanador
Did you change any settings in your Oblivion.ini? It sounds like a soup problem, with the grid spacing set too high maybe. I think if have adjusted it make sure it is an ODD number (eg 5, 7, 9). The stock number is 5, I use 7, They say you can go 9 or 11 even but you will be subject to strange anomalies as far as things lining up togther and overlapping. Just a guess. tsunami17
So how do I check if my card is over heated?
Switch
Depends what type of card it is. I have no experience with ATi cards, but with NVidia cards you can right click on desktop, go down to NVIDIA Display in the menu, then there should be the name of your monitor. Click that and it should bring the NVidia control panel up. You can select Temperature Settings from the left menu, which will show you your current temp in degrees centigrade. The average temp outside of games is about 45-60 degrees depending how good your fan is, I think. If it's considerably higher than that (like 70+) you might be overheating.
