Deadly Reflexes Help

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I'm not the best modder in the world, but I can hold my own. I've managed to get on a few other mods onto my Oblivion and not destroy anything. SO now that I've downloaded the deadly reflexes mod (which also means I downloaded the script extender and the mod manager) every time I try to load a game, it kicks me off and every time I try to start a new game, it won't initiate the new game. Like, I'll click new game and the table will disappear but it will still be on the start screen. Please let me know if theres something really basic that I'm leaving out. :thanks:

Ok, just to be sure, you are starting Oblivion using OBSE right? If not that is probably your problem. Also make sure DR is at the end of your load order, or download and use BOSS after each mod you download and activate/deactivate.

OBMM and OBSE are not mods and do not install like mods - so be sure to read the full instructions first.

You also must have the latest patch, V1.2.0146 - look on the lower left corner of loading screen when you start the game to see your version number.

Then, as ZareCograth said, you MUST start the game by starting OBSE and not Oblivion. or, there is an Oblivion launcher built into OBMM that will automatically look for and start OBSE if it is installed correctly. You must start with OBSE every time or it will not be there when you need it. Starting Oblivion without OBSE when you have a mod that requires OBSE will CTD most of the time.

Deadly Reflex is one of the more difficult mods to get to work, so be sure to read ALL of the documentation and follow ALL of the instructions - or it won't work. Then, even if you do everything right, and there is a conflicting mod, it still might not work.

OBMM Oblivion Mod Manager - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097

It's a utility program and not a mod. It actually runs outside of the game and you don't need to start Oblivion to use it.

Use the full installer version, It is supposed to install itself when you run it.

On starting the OBMM, you will get a screen with any installed mods on the left - In their load order. The right frame will be empty unless you are using the optional OMOD way to install mods. On the far right there is a help button At least read through the Intro, FAQ and Main sections. Most of what you need at first will be How to activate and deactivate the mods and how to change the load order.

BOSS is for when you have so many mods its difficult to set the load order manually. If you don't have more than a dozen you don't need it yet.

It is also not a mod, but a utility program that is run outside of the game. Read the instructions on how to use it or it won't work.

BOSS http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516 Better Oblivion Sorting Software - uses a database to try to set you mod list to the best load order. Not perfect, but the best available. It recognizes several thousand mods and can set them. Then it moves any it can't set to the end of the mod list for you to set manually using OBMM. After you run BOSS, then start OBMM and the new load order will be what you see, and what the game uses.
