Reiyan
for some reason ive been spending ages deciding what race to be, what skills to have etc - i mainly want to be magic user, but i also want to have a major skill in a weapon of some sort - Bretons are good for magics but they're real pansies with weapons :( , should i just accept this or go for another race - its just getting past the first few skill levels thats my problem, im impatient?!... what would other people suggest - what skill combination and race do you normally go for? ps - where do i get more powerfull spells from and whihc is the most "offensive" type of magic, or the best for smashing other characters up etc kate

eldritch
Bretons make the best mages - but they take a while to develop. If you want a fighter type try this: This is primarily for power-gamers (an oft maligned breed.) Character selection:Redguard Male with Strength, Endurance. Custom Class: Combat group Major skills: Heavy Armor, Longblade, Restoration(!), Armorer, Block Minor: Athletics, Enchant, Speechcraft (for taunting), Marksman and Alchemy. Early Strategy: Get Daedric Katana (ebony mine trick) and master Alchemy set (Caldera Mages guild) immediately. If Tribunal loaded kill a couple of Dark Brotherhood arsearseins who attack you while sleeping. Sell that armor and the set of orc armor to the Creeper. Get following Restoration spells: Restore attribute, fortify attribute, fortify skill (need Tribunal), cure common disease. Make a restore all attributes 10 pts spell and fortify personality, intelligence 100 pts for 3 secs. Fortify the alchemy and speechcraft skill 100 pts for 3 sec. Now you can use the alchemy set with 100+ intelligence and 100+ alchemy and make tons of potions for selling (plus leveling up as Alchemy skill goes up). Sell these potions and train yourself up to at least level 20 (sell potions to creeper). Make a soultrap sword from a good (ebony or better) sword. Now go Daedric shrine looting and sell stuff back to Creeper. You can get your guy upto 30-35 in a very short time doing this. If you know where the Great Soul Gems areget a few and trap some Golden Saints and buy enchantments for whatever you want.Be sure to train up in armorer and heavy armor immediately (Fighter Guild Balmora). Try to make an open 100 lock enchantment. Marksman is good for Tribunal for when you get the Dwarven Darts - the weapon of choice against werewolves.Get Ebony or better armor ASAP. Get Fists of Randolph and Helm of olyn(sp) Bearclaw. If really ambitious get Azura Star - you get to trap a Golden Saint during that quest. Join Morag Tong and get started on the Sanguine Artifacts quests - good loot. (I built a character like that to level 127 before I retired him.) 2. I got Alchemy up to 100 with a character and made many Fortify Intelligence potions with the Grandmaster set (ash yams, bloat or netch leather). Make 10, drink them, make 10 more, drink those etc. I got my intelligence over 16000 and made some strength, speed, levitate and restore health potions. With the super dooper potions I got strength over 900 for 200+ hours, similar type speed , levitate and restore health. It was ridiculous. I could fly from Azura's temple to Sheograth in under 5 minutes. If I stopped en route there would be literally dozens of cliff-racers behind me trying to catch me. I let them and with super strength cleaned them out very briskly. Alchemy can be very powerful. Note: Super strength is almost a necessity against the werewoves in Bloodmoon. Also very helpful in Tribunal - arseuming you are playing with Difficulty at 100 (the only way for a true power gamer to go.) N.B. None of this involves cheating. I did load the Homeopathic Alchemy Mod, but it's not essential.
DragoonFurey
Race selection is realy pure astetics at high levels (40+), and thats ridicusly easy to do with alchemy. the money you make off of alchemy can be used to pay a trainer to take all of your skills up to 100 with master trainers. Its just a matter of how much time you want to spend developing your charecter through non-combat means. Bretons overall make the best mages their 50% magicka resist is a valubale asset at anylevel, High Elves can be damndable effective at high levels with thier inate 1.5x Magicka bonus, dark elves make good nightblades and witch hunters with their diverse stats and skill bonuses.
