jgnexus
I'm more of a medium settings player . I was messing around with my ini files today. I was adding specifically performance boosting lines into it. I then started up skyrim, was having some problems with CTD'S etc. & I think I Fixed those. But now I am at A steady 15-20 fps in dungeons, and 10-15 outside. Wtf??? Game not playable anymore, because before that I was getting 30-40 in dungeons and 20-27 fps outside using a 40 fps limiter. Ive tried removing and texture mods and even getting my old INI i deleted out of the recycle bin and putting back to use. NOTHING IS WORKING. Even going to the lowest setting isnt working. Ive installed hialgo boost and the gigantic performance patch d3d9.dll. NOTHING. My game was so smooth before, and now its unplayable. ANY help would be really appreciated. Lord Garon
A little more info would be good, How to ask for help. Post the Help info first, then... As a shot in the dark; take out all "performance boosters" and any GPU/CPU/FPS monitoring programs you're running. Rename (or delete) both Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini. Disable all your mods except for DLC/Unofficial Patches and SSME if you use it. Fire up Skyrim from Steam or the SkyrimLauncher to restore your ini files and video settings. Click PLAY on the launcher screen, or QUIT and start Skyrim from SKSE if you use it. At the main Skyrim load screen, hit ~ key, type in: coc riverwood , and hit Enter (that will take you to Riverwood and skip the intro). This is your default, system dependent game state. Post the Help info from the above link and let us know how the FPS is doing in the default game. (Don't save and keep playing the "coc riverwood" game; its just for testing and is broken.) (Don't save and keep playing the "coc riverwood" game; its just for testing and is broken.)Thanks, it seems that brought my outside FPS to about 30. Keep in mind I didnt uninstall the gigantic performance patch, hialgo boost, RCRN AE, or optimizer textures. So thats 30-31 fps outside, but if I were to move around while I was getting that it probably will drop to about 20-25 fps, not sure why my computer does that. If im getting a steady 31 standing still you'd think itd be generous and give me and least 27-30 moving around. Anyways appreciate it, sure that's not the last of my problems though, I'll reinstall my mods now.
Lord Garon
Well, all we did so far is reset the ini files. Mods and other software will have a big impact as well. Its simply impossible to help troubleshoot a game setup with a bunch of monitoring software and performance mods installed since they impact things we might want to look at and test. Good luck. Let us know how all the mods affect the game. And don't forget the Help info; can't do much troubleshooting without it.
VicariousTool
typically when I ever get low FPS, I set graphics to AUTO, then start to fine tune my PC's hardware. Such as NB and HT speed, those allow proper bandwidth from RAM to CPU and GPU when set correctly. Which usually eliminates any bottleneck and allows for more consistent FPS if you aren't getting the performance you think you should for the hardware you have, get anti virus and run scans, also do benchmarks and compare to similar hardware setups benchmarks scores. Then, once you have done all of that such as adjusting RAM timings and GPU clock and mem clock or CPU bus speed and multipliers and voltages, set proper BIOS options. Then!, can you adjust iNi settings, and google has more info on THAT then I do.-Vic
