It doesn't like me...

Hey guys, I wonder if anyone has had this issue besides me?

I can load my game fine from the start, but whenever I die, or want to reload an older save the game just stops working right at the loading screen.

The task manager says it stops responding but the music is playing, the slides are still rolling by and the loading reticule keeps on spinning.

I think it should be noted that I'm at the very beginning of the game, with just about two dozen mods running, (yeah that many; Haha!) and I'm playing on the Steam GOTY version.

What do you all think?

:thanks: in advance.

I had a similar problem with TES Oblivion. In the opening menu I could continue my game or load a pre-existing saved game. But if I were in the game itself trying to load a saved game would cause the game to crash. I do not remember if I had that problem upon death. I was never able to correct this I just had to remember to exit to the opening menu again to load my saved games. I've never had this trouble with Fallout though.

GOTY = Buggy as hell.

Steam = Even Worse.

Combine the 2 & add mods & its never gonna work.

Funny, I'm using Fallout 3 GOTY and for me it runs like it came with my machine. I have had no experience with Steam however.

Well... those are indeed some fine suggestions. :rolleyes:

I took the advice of another user and loaded all of the mods I planned to play with and started a completely new game. Right from the start I noticed the changes.

Fallout 3 is buggy to begin with, even with the patches. So far I've been playing for a couple of hours a day for a week with only ONE issue: The area between Megaton and Minefield must be a busy area or something, my PC runs up to 98% cpu power and lags like a SOB. Everywhere else (that I've been to so far) runs perfectly. It only crashed twice in that area, once when I was on the way there and then again when I tried to fast travel back to Megaton from Minefield.

Weird.

ok rabbit, thanks for the advice on how to fix his problem.....if all your gonna say is "my game works great and yours dont" then piss off

I have also tried to find explanations or fixes to a myriad of problems for FALLOUT3 - and finally came to this solution...on some systems, this game just will not play right, so if yours is one of them, get your money back from Bethesda (i have, after a nasty letter on releasing defective merchandise,)

and stick to the console versions (those, too are bugged unfortunatley, but as long as your disc is clean, it should work.

BTW, on every forum featuring a section on fallout3, the "fallout3 crashes constantly" seems to be the biggest longest posts, sorry, bro - but if it helps, your not the only one Bethesda has bent over in the old wood shed.

I am truly sorry that are taking this that way, Mr. Niadly. I wish that your copy worked better for you, but if I do not have these problems then I cannot come up with a cure for your difficulty. I cannot take responsibility for the way my copy runs, it just does. Perhaps you might just try the console version as it should be far more stable. Good gaming in the future to you. As a matter of fact please accept a kudo from me.
