confusingart
Hey, so I bought Premium and wanted to start the modding adventure in Skyrim. The problem is that there are really much mods and I can't decide which ones are good/better than others/incompatible with otheres. I gave it a shot and installed ~ 10 mods. It worked but it didn't feel like I did it right. I installed the unofficial patches for the game and DLCs + hd textures + character overhaul + UI + New starting point + weapons/armor So is someone willing to help me to set it up from scratch (via Team Viewer maybe?) and "calculate" if my PC is capable of these mods + tips. i7 4790KR9 Vapor X Tri-X OC 4GB8GB RamMSI Gaming 7 Would be willing to donate a few dollars to you afterwards ;) Thanks in advance
gilaphreak
Hey confusing, I understand your troubles, I recently broke into the modding scene from Skyrim. I originally played the game on Xbox, and then got to seeing all of the neat addons that people have created; so I decided to pick it up on the PC. You've got a pretty high end PC. I'd say just look around and load up whatever you want. My specs are: i7 4770k AMD R9 290x 32GB Ram On a Asus Z87-A Mobo And Skyrim screams. The loadtimes are a little long, but I'm running a constant ~60 frames (Which is my monitor's refresh rate, so nothing more is really needed.) Currently, I'm running somewhere around 80 mods, with about half of them being visual/texture mods. I started with this list from the RealVision ENB mod. While I recently switched to the Seasons of Skyrim ENB (Which looks a lot better in my opinion. Darker and more vivid, instead of realistic. Think "The Hobbit",) the suggested and essential mod lists at the top really got me started. I'm still using most of them, along with a few from the suggested list at the very bottom of the page. It's some place to get you started.: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/ You can also check out Seasons of Skyrim as your ENB preset. I like it's look better. A little warmer and vivid.: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23812/? Most of those are texture and landscape mods. After that, you'll want some skin mods for you NPCs. I don't really like a lot of the hair mods, so I got a simple retexture mod that really bumps up the resolution of the vanilla hair without making the guys look like pansies.: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36510 It's a long drawn out task, and I've found myself doing more modding than playing this past week or so; but it's really rewarding to look at vanilla screenshots, and then look at what you've made your game into. Hope this helps!
confusingart
Thank you for this long answer! I have also played Skyrim on the Xbox pretty long :) I followed the steps from RealVision ENB, took me 4h. and after a few CTD it works. Only problem I have is input lag with my xbox controller + blurred screen ? Looks like a milk filter is covering it. I already tried to reinstall the mods and a few other things but don't know how to fix it.
gilaphreak
Ah, yeah! Sorry, I forgot to warn you about the windmill mod giving me CTDs when I first started out. If you haven't gotten rid of that, then you might try unchecking it. If it works for you, then cool! Sounds like it might be a problem with the effects. Try unchecking RealVision and booting the game up, see if that still does it. If it does, you may have a problem with your settings. (You turned AA and all of that stuff off in the launched, right?) Also, read about making your Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini read only; so the launcher doesn't write over the modifications you've made. (You did go in there and change some values to 1, and some to 0 etc. right?) If you didn't, then that could be your problem. Skyrim will just write over whatever changes you made, that could cause some kind of conflict with the game settings and the ENB settings. There's a step by step instruction on that page that goes into pretty good detail, you may read that over and see if you missed anything. You'll have to go to the RealVision page, then click the "Forums" tab between the description, and screenshots at the top. Then click "Brutally Explicit Installation Guide." That kind of rounds things out a little better. Also, make sure you only installed one of the options, and not all of them. (Realistic Lighting Overhaul, or Enhanced Lights.) EDIT: Whenever I started having CTD issues, I went through and started unchecking 10-15 mods at a time in blocks. That helps narrow it down a lot quicker. Maybe that will work with your blurry screen. Edited July 5, 2014 by gilaphreak
livipup
This forum is for when you have issues with mods. The problem with modding isn't usually your system specs (unless you have very little memory). Chances are, if you have problems, it'll be incompatible mods and incorrectly installed mods. If you pay attention to what you're doing, you should be fine. Domas
Just some quick input regarding blurred screen... Did you by chance enable depth of field? Shift+enter in game and you can bring up the enb settings, make sure depth of field is unchecked. I personally cannot stand DoF, no idea how someone can play with it. To each their own I guess.
