Corrupted Game

Ok, I Could load back half a dozen saves when I was in IC and then make my way to Fort Bulwark?? before I got CTDs & Corrupted saves, but I'm getting them in IC now.

I've been playing this one for a couple months, it's been crashing right from the start, usually after a couple hours, now more frequently... I don't have a Lot of Mods, and I've been changing them in and out. I pretty much need a Nudey Mod and Partners, the rest I can probably live without.

I'm currently trying to get back to all of my Houses to dispose of most of my Loot I've been hoarding in the hopes that something there may be causing problems.

I Did manage to come up with the Giant Wekland stone and I haven't even been to Kavatch yet, also I have a few item of "<Missing Name>s" ...

The Missing Name items are from the vanilla game and are usually scripted tokens added to NPC's to make them perform a particular animation. If you find them don't loot the item otherwise it can cause your game to crash or if you do and drop it will be a missing mesh symbol. Reinstalling won't fix this issue as far as the missing mesh goes. It's a different issue.

Sometimes it can happen with a mod that adds an animation to a NPC as well, but in the vanilla game this is fixed with the Unofficial Oblivion Patch.

Post a list of your mods. Changing them in and out as you say is one of the worst things you can do to try to fix a problem. It's entirely possible your saves are messed up completely.

You can try a clean save by typing "coc testinghall" in the console without the quotes, and teleporting to the developer's testing area. Save and exit the game. Disable your mods and go back into game ignoring the message about missing data. If the save won't load at this stage you have a missing Master file or mod related files left in the meshes, textures or sound folders. Disabling an esp is often not enough to prevent a problem. You must completely remove all the files connected with the mod from your data folder. This especially applies to animation replacers among others.

Use the wait function for one day more than whatever your game is using. The default is three days so wait for four.

Save and exit. Then restart and play for awhile to see if things are stable.

You can exit the testinghall via the door marked Hawkhaven in the middle of the room and fast travel normally.

Make sure you back up your saves before doing this as it's a test. If you are lucky enough to grab all your loot stored in different house mods it may still not fix the problem. One at a time re-add your mods and thoroughly test for as long as possible before adding another. Repeat until you find a problem mod or can reproduce the crashes.

I would suggest you don't add a body replacer or companions until you find the source of your problem. Unless you already have them installed. The body replacer would not cause these problems if installed properly, but companions are another story with an already very unstable game.

Disable all Autosaves as they lead to corruption including eventually your hard saves. Quick save is OK if you delete it often and create new ones.

You may just have to accept that a reinstall of the game and more careful use of mods is the best way to fix issues like this that get worse over time.

Fisrst of all, I have to say I'm ammazed that there's still this much actitity in Oblivion...

I started another reinstall, and loaded back ~100 saves, I was bit by the theives Guild guy (it didn't take last time) I played for maybe an hour before it crashed...

I've had Partners right from the start, I did try restarting that mod a couple times(remove, save, reinstall) I'm trying to Remember right now, I'll have to figure out how to post wRye Bash's list mod function, but here's a cut & paste

00 Oblivion.esm

01 Cobl Main.esm [Version 1.71] (recently installed)

02 CM Partners.esm (allways installed)

0F Knights - Unofficial Patch.esp [Version 1.0.9] (recently installed, UOP & UOSI,manualy)

So do you have the UOP or not? Did you merge it with something, or what exactly do you mean by this?

If you have the UOP, you should have a 'Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp', and it should be near the top of your list (and not merged with other unofficial patches).

07 Landmarks, w Wells.esp [Version 1.11] (recently installed)

08 Wayshrine Map Markers.esp (allways installed)

Doesn't the landmarks w/ wells, already include the wayshrines? If so, you won't need the other mod.

I'll have to figure out how to post wRye Bash's list mod function, but here's a cut & paste

If you have OBMM you can just click 'import/export' and select 'view load order'.

I tried with the Unofficial patches Manually installed, but it still pulls Knights up in the loader...

I started out with Wayshrines and just recently installed landmarks, so the shrines don't show up there yet...

This is my Current settings, I'll have to put my Harvest Mods back, but I loaded back on an Older save abd it seems pretty good so far, it does still crash after a couple hours, but it so far has been closing without hanging...

Sorry about "Bumping" my own post, but I'm pretty well lost here... I uninstalled Oblivion, ran CCC, uninstalled Bash, ran CCC, uninstall Python, ran CCC I even Ubninstalled C++ 2008 and ran CCC,(renamed Save folder) Rebooted and then Installed everything onto a differant Drive, in a new directory... first thing I installed (OBMM, C++, Python & Wrye Bash, OBSE & BOSS) was the Unoffical Patch Omod (Through OBMM) when I clicked it in Wyre Bash, I got the stdout/stderr... :wallbash:

When you uninstalled, did you dump your old data folder before you ran CCleaner? If not, some of the files were still present, therefore CCleaner will have left the registry entries alone, and even when you installed it to a different directory, you'll still have had the borked registry entries(if that is the problem) You also need to move/rename your saves/ini folder or it'll leave the entries for the .ini intact too. If you're gonna do a clean install as a troubleshooting step, make sure its a really clean install, or you're largely wasting your time.

The errors, however, would appear to be coming from an entry actually within your Wrye Bash bashed patch mopy entry, which is a little odd, especially after a fresh install. Checked the Bash help html?

Ohh,.. I guess I left my old Data in place, I did however rename the Parent folder..., I searched the Bash site, tried looking on Python, I can find references to stdout/stderr, but it's pretty much Greek... I'm really not sure What to look for or Where...

I've reinstalled this thing countless times and I don't think I've gotten it right yet, I do have a Dual Boot and I've had it on the other OS, but it's a bit Flaky, may have to do an OS reinstall and go that way again. ( but I don't have time cause I'm Lost in Oblivion) :thanks:

Actually it seems to be running pretty good at the moment, but I don't like the error in Bash...

Also when I tried install HGEC in OBMM, it turned Blue, but didn't show in the listings, but seems to work in-game??

I'll look into the bash error for you if I get chance tonight.

HGEC is a replacer. The mod has no .esp or .esm, so it doesn't show up in your regular load order.
