DaGhostShade
I am new to the whole Modding of the Fallout Games, but I have done some modding of other games, namely HF2 Engine and Minecraft. The problem is that when I download compressed files from Nexus New Vegas Mods, some of the compression [WinRAR Archives (.7z)] have a error when I try to open or extract them. "D:\Games\FalloutNV\mods\...MODNAME.7z... The archive is either in unknown format or damaged." Should I be getting a better file compression then WinRAR? What is it I am doing wrong exactly? NOTE: .zip and .rar files work fine In the meantime I am getting 7zip as a temporary fix, but I would like to know what is going wrong. Thanks! SayinNuthin
Sometimes my (quite old) WinRar app gives me errors on new 7z files, just sometimes, and exacerbated if the archive is on a separate drive it seems. The 7zip program can be funny about old Rars - and I have some going back to early Fo3.. Dragging the archive to the desktop and if necessary take the contents out one.. at.. a.. time.. sometimes works for archives that actually are damaged. And the 7zip is quite a nice app when you get used to it and has a test function that should tell you if the file is good or not.
DaGhostShade
Thanks for the input, I guess it just makes sense that neither are perfect softwares. Downloading 7-zip has fixed this problem, but now I am on to bigger and better problems haha. Crashing on the Startup, so running some tests for where the conflicts are.
