Gizardo123
It's good to see I'm not alone on this problem. I got my gear back on my one of my main characters thanks to the vendor versions. Thanks for your help Louis. Now....I just need to figure out how to get the other mods to appear back into my inventory. I'm seriously considering just uninstalling the game cleanly, backing up my saved character and restarting.
DarkeWolf
for the windows vista firewall, go to start/control panel. in classic view, go to security center.check to see if firewall is turned on. now, over on the left hand side of that screen, click the link that says "Windows Firewall". You'll then see a link that says "Change Settings". Click on that. What will open a new window named "Windows Firewall Settings". YOu'll first want to set it so that the firewall is turned on. Then, You'll have three tabs across the top. Click on the one that reads "Exceptions". Scroll thru the list of programs there, and UNCHECK any of them that are DA/Dragon Age, or STEAM. Once you've unchecked all of them, click OKAY.
Sebiale
So I tried reinstalling the game, turning off the auto-update feature, but it still installed version 1.03. What can I do now? That won't work. Steam has probably updated the file so that any re-installation attempts have the latest version, which is bad in this case.Every time you re-install it, you'll need to disable auto-updating, and then remove the 1.03 path information manually again. I have Vista Ultimate, how can I disable Dragon Age so it doesn't access the internet? As Darke said, the most sure-fire method of stopping Steam is to block its permission through your firewall, of course, that means Steam will be completely disabled as long as you have it that way.A good anti-virus works well, but since Vista was upgraded for security specifically, you might as well put it to good use. DarkeWolf
I do also want to mention that some of these mods don't show up until you do an area transition. What I mean is after cleaning your savegames, save it under a new filename/savefile name. restart the game under that new savegame. If they don't load, go to another area on the map. For example, move from party camp to say, Redcliffe. Save, exit, reload. The stuff may show up then.
