Dude, I hear ya about sopmeone choosing plugins for ya, but keep in mind two things;

ONE- this is really being done for me, so I dont have to hastle with selecting unselecting and updating etc... One master file is perfect for me.

TWO - there are two different types of gamers out there, sysops programmers etc...

1 type wants to have a starting point with something setup for them, and the other wants to do it the long hard way from scratch.

Examples: VB or Dreamweaver programmer vs a PERL scripter or html writer from scratch. Someone that would run Slackware vs someone that would run Debian or Redhat Linux or, er, Windows.

I have not yet seen the plugin, sword of perithia plugin, but will be checking it out at some point, finding the best ones that work and dont bring imbalance to the game.

Thanks for the link, I have added it to my list of links and am actualy almost through all that I have been able to find. After checking again for updates every day on the sites that are regularly updated I will have my master list and start compiling.

UPDATE:

I am now up to 3041 Plugins downloaded and am reaching the end of the well, I figure another 60 pagers maybe another 300 downlaods or so, check for updated ones as of today, and Sorting will begin.

Here is my plan:

1 Gather Plugins (ongoing to check for updates daily)

2 Sort Plugins Logically (eliminating dups upgrades etc.)

3 Test Plugins for gameplay

4 Test Plugins for compatibility

5 Secondary Sort for keepers vs trash

6 Re-verify compatibility.

7 Attempt to compile .esp files somehow.

8 Continue Testing.

9 Come up with final list and final testing.

10 Compile.

11 Create an installation program.

12 Burn to Cd with a pretty label and title for myself.

13 Install and enjoy gameplay with a new character.

Thanks again for the responses,

Thanks for the good luck, I will need it!

I currently have downloaded 3441 plugin files, now I am sorting them out for testing, dups, non-plugins, etc... After I get a list of exclusive plugins I will post that list here somehow.

UPDATE:

1 Gather Plugins - COMPLETE

2 Sort Plugins Logically - IN PROGRESS

Thanks,

Maybe I'm just fortunate, but I'm currently running MW with just about active 100 plug-ins and I have not experienced any gameplay problems in ages. The ones I did experience were all pretty easily corrected (missing files, misplaced files, etc.) and only rarely did I have to un-plug a conflicting plug-in.

Yes, Ibuprofen and Moutain Dew, I call it tech candy. Thanks for the luck, Im still working on sorting all of the plugins I have downloaded, and as I read through each one, some of them sound so cool to add to the game, just real little things that will add to overall gameplay, and finding a lot of those things.

You are lucky to not have had any issues with your mods, I have constantly seen errors as well and am going to avoid that with my new compilation.

2 Sort Plugins Logically - IN PROGRESS

Out of 3441 plugins to be sorted, I have 1562 left to go through, this is obcviously taking longer than I thought, but learning some cool things. After my compilation my next project will be to create a plugin myself, have a bunch of ideas on what to create, and after catalogging all of the used spaces, will start on using other spaces that really dont have any thing in them at all other than random monsters etc... Im thinking of a big quests in the middle of a bunch of nowhere.

Oh, Ive decided and have been sorting my plugins via location, which is really turning out well as I will more easily be able to determine spaces in conflict and it will also help during testing as I can test say, Seyda Neen plugins, and uninstall them for the next city, area, shrine, etc... This is also how I will compile them.

Thanks,

  • 5 months later...

I am back at it and switched my focus, Im compiling the new world of Morrowind, I have already downloaded over 4500 mods and am parsing them, one at a time, making sure each are individual and not overlapping, or too overbearing in certain areas. I have already separated out a lot of the first step things, birthsigns, classes, races, and all are unique, none collide with morrowind bloodmoon or tribunal. This is really gonna be cool, just what I always wanted. Im keeping the quest mods, houses etc..., but spreading them out, making a new city of towers that will have some cool stuff, new villages, islands etc..., none overlapping. Its gonna rock, then I can hang up my modding for a while, this project shuld be completed by the end of summer if i keep at it like i am...

I'm glad to hear you are still at this. Please keep us informed of your progress. If you are successful, I'm sure you have and will gain some pointers and pitfalls for anyone who may want to try something like this themselves. Do you plan on releasing this to the public? I've merged around 350 mods successfully, but over 4,000! I'd definetly like to see the finished product. I'll be keeping an eye on this. Good luck.
