Apple IPod Touch. (third generation)

Okay its my birthday soon, and I am thinking about getting myself an Apple IPod Touch. I heard many different reviews and I am a little confused. Here are some questions I have

1: Can you use MP3s you already have, or do you have to buy them again from ITunes.

2: Does Wi-Fi works only where there is a router, or do they provide most of US coverage.

3: What are the differences of 3rd generation IPod Touch and 2nd generation IPod touch.

4: Can I use regular headphones or am I stuck with Apple's ones.

1.Yes

2.Only in Wi-Fi hotspots.

3. 3rd generation has voice control, comes with a headphone/microphone combo, and supposedly has more RAM, a better CPU, and a better graphics "card"

4. Any headphones with a standard headphone jack will work

 

Just get the 3rd generation, not the second.
