MMB1994
Hello everyone. I am fairly new to modding. I am trying to import .dds files into the Creation Kit. They are face textures (stuff like warpaint and what not).I placed the .dds files in: C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\Textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\3DNPC.esp Hoping that they would show up in Creation Kit, but with no success. I tried using the "Import" button in the Creation Kit, with no success. I would like to use the textures I am trying to import in conjunction with warpaint. So maybe there is a way to place them in the category of Dirt? Any help would be much appreciated.---- MMB1994
MMB1994
I just realized that 3DNPC.esp has to do with the "Interesting NCPs" mod. So the question still remains, how do I import .dds files into Creation Kit?
IsharaMeradin
You need to be more precise in what you are wanting to accomplish. The Creation Kit does not "import" DDS files. You cannot edit them as you would with GIMP. You can assign DDS files to TextureSets and then assign those TextureSets to various other forms/records. MMB1994
The .dds files I want to use are face textures/warpaint-like textures. I want to be able to put the .dds file textures on an NPC as well as warpaint. The .dds files add things to the face.
IsharaMeradin
Found this via google search about ADDING warpaints. 1) add the .dds files you want to use to the textures\actors\character\character assets\tintmasks folder2) load the CK and import them into the NPC.esp you're creating by adding them to the character's main race sheet on the "tinting" page (you'll see the stock Skyrim warpaints already listed there..... be sure to select the "paint" category)3) add the colors you want to use for the new warpaints4) go to your npc's character sheet (the tinting page will look basically the same as the race sheet) and you should see the new warpaints listed. Select the one (or more) you want to use, and change the color from "color average" to one of the colors you gave them.5) Done. Save and close the CK Are you dealing with the whole face? Complexion? Dirt? Makeup? Are you wanting to ADD a new texture or REPLACE an existing texture? Is it for all NPCs or just one?
MMB1994
I am dealing with the whole face. I want to ADD a new texture. It is just for one NPC for now. It would only be for custom NPCs. I don't plan on changing vanilla characters.
IsharaMeradin
You will need to create a custom race. You will need to create a FormList that has the custom race + vampire version (if one) listed on it. You will need to create a TextureSet that uses the texture files. You will need to create a HeadPart form that uses the FormList and the TextureSet. When the actor is all made and the plugin saved, you will need to CTRL+F4 while the actor record is selected (but not open) in the Object Window. If you do not want to do that, you can TRY to replace the face gen data created using CTRL+F4 with a merged texture file that is the appearance you want. BlutLykos
How about if i want to add custom creature textures?
agerweb
If you are talking about adding your own textures to an existing creature you can do that in the CK by creating a TextureSet as above then go into the ArmorAddon (usually Naked....) of the creature you want to change. Under biped model click 'select' and you will see an Alternate Texture panel you can delete and add texture sets there.
