Awakening -- Opinions so far?

I couldn't get any armor to show on my rogue I imported into the game. Rather disconcerting to be going through the opening scenes buck naked, but no matter what I tried neither my Female Purple Rogue Gear or Rogue Warden Blue set would show up. I was stuck going through the whole opening part of the game wearing the Noble Clothes that were still in my inventory and using a crossbow on a dual-weild rogue. If anyone knows what I can do to make the gear work, I would appreciate it.

I dont know why thats not working for you, most of my texture things work fine. One similar thing I did notice is that no (or near to none) of the DLC carries through. My character was equipped with DLC armour (blood dragon) and DLC weapons but when starting with my character i have absolutely no equipment.

Really quite frustrating!

Female Purple Rogue gear oftentimes disappear in the beginning of a new game. So all ya have to do is uninstall Fem rogue gear and then begin the game and allow it to progress a little, then save it. Then exit the game and install Fem rogue gear. Then load your save game.

I hope this work. If it is'nt then i don't know anymore.

I only based this advice from my experience in the origins. I hope its the same with the Awakening. (since i dont have it yet).

@Andrew -- I disabled all my DLC before starting Awakenings, because I knew it wouldn't work anyway, and I also disabled most of my gameplay mods. But yeah, neither of the armor sets showed up in my inventory.

 

@Christine -- The first thing I did when my toon spawned naked was exactly what you suggested. I saved a game with the mod disabled, then tried to enable it. No joy. And since I've yet to find any decent rogue gear in Vigil's Keep, my warden commander/royal consort is still trotting around in scavenged gear, hobnobbing with the nobles she's supposed to be impressing. It's a little absurd.

Well, I didnt like having to play the polician there at the first, but Its been a lot of fun so far. I've gotten in far enough to fight and kill the Queen of the Black Marsh (the big crystal looking dragon. And I gotta head to bed.

So far its fun. A HECK of a lot of running around on sidequests, but its still a lot of fun.

 

Spoiler on fighting QotBM-

she's immune to electrical and heat attacks. She's vulnerable to cold spells though

 

 

Mage staves have different types in Awakenings too. And the Normal attack and onhit fx are different for each one. Fire shoots lil fireballs, lightning shoots lil shots of electricity, etc.

 

Bosses are MEAN. It took me almost 10 minutes to get QotBM dead. (seemed like that anyway. probly longer, wasnt paying too much attention to the time)

 

At least they supplied us with a storage chest this time.

 

Sucks that you have to respec your followers tho. Had to completely redo Oghren after he rejoined my party.

 

Expect to spend a lot of cash in this game. Some of this stuff is EXPENSIVE.

 

Some of the new skills sound really cool in the description, but dont work like you'd think they would.

 

Heh, theres this guy in the city that looks like Alistair. Has a big fat bushy goatee. You get to kill him :laugh:

 

The new Flurry skill is... wow. When you activate it, you just sit there and hammer at the target until A) you get interrupted B) you run out of stamina or C) It's dead

 

Also, don't let the baroness get too close to your squishies. That soul drain attack of her's didnt do much to my tanks. But she grabbed hold of Anders, and did a real number on him with it. Pretty much had to beat on her with attacks that cause knockdown to make her let go before she sucked him dry. She resisted most of them, but we got lucky with a fireball in the chest.

Does your inventory cash carry over from Origins to Awakenings, or is it wiser to just spend all your cash on valuables in order to carry money over?

Cash carried over, but since I didn't have any non-mod/DLC gear in my inventory before importing my character, I spent a good chunk of my available cash on gear from Bodhahn so I wouldn't spawn naked again.

I noticed the gear I got from Soldier's Peak didn't transfer over to Awakenings. So Starfell, the warden commander's armour and various other equipment is gone. *annoyed and pouting* However the expansion totally rocks and I love it.

the only gear i managed to transfer over was the warden armor that i downloaded from this site and Duncan and cailan weapons. but i managed to have alot of money and i also stripped off my other characters in origins before i went to redcliffe for final battle. so all my characters except alistair morrigan and Wynne was naked, well they had underwear lols.
