Awakening -- Opinions so far?

Awakening shows many hints of how much better it could've been without the devs being

constantly nagged by some pain in the neck about the release day deadline.

And said pain wasn't the community - that's for sure

Who was it that said it best? "I blame EA for this!"

Awakening would have been better if it was directly tied to regular DAO, instead of a different campaign. Why didn't they integrate it in normal DAO much like some of the DLC quests? That way the new items/equipment/skills/abilities/specs/characters would all transfer over to regular DAO. I don't like it but would have liked it better if they had integrated it with the rest of the game. Bioware flopped big time on this one. They should have integrated the normal game ALL the DLC + Awakening into one. And made everything work.

For all we know, they are going to pull another "Alistair" with Leliana in the next expansion. What I mean is:

"Hi ______, how you been? Good? Good. I'll be going now."

I just hope they bring some of the gang back for a well made sequel. I just hope so.

Please God no :yucky: I would rather we never see them again than that, but agree I would like to see some of the gang back.

I don't know about others, but in all the years I've been playing RPGs I've always got attached to party members even when there wasn't the interaction as there is in DAO and hated to see them go and have to get used to new ones and how they fight, their strengths and weakness's etc.

How do we even know that was BioWare's decision?

To me it looks like they don't have much sayso in what is released when and how.

Of course the devs can deliver a product to the publisher they think is ready for the shelves

- just to get it handed back on a lead plate along with a long list of demands...

Well, at least creating two Jar Jar Binks avatars, nameley Alistair and Anders was

Bioware's doing. Yuck @ both immortal redshirts

Very, very disappointed that we don't get to take any of our current party members along. At the very least, you should be able to take along those which it makes sense to take along, such a Leliana if she says she will travel by your side in the future.

I really don't understand leaving that type of thing out, and it really ruins the experience for me. I started playing it, but then decided to wait for a while until, hopefully, a mod becomes available to fix this oversight.

LOL Its funny that you should post that, ON THE SAME DAY that a mod is released that starts to address that situation. Still in infancy stage, but at least somebody is starting to address the issue. If nothing else, folks that are unhappy about the problem with awakening should at least give feedback to the author so that he knows there's an interest in the project.

That's amazing. Still, I will need a stable patch before I can bother to get the expansion.

I don't think that Alistair and Anders are even remotely stack up to Jar Jar Binks. As Alistair would stated it in his own words in his defense 'It hurts my manly feelings, you know. All one of them.'. Jar Jar is a killer :yucky: while Alistair and Anders show real emotion in men (which is rare). As much as I hate whiners I also hate the other word that begins with W (you know what I mean) and 'Manly' men are just as revolting as Jar Jar Binks . Alistair and Anders bring fresh air to Japanese anime (no offense) men that have guns bigger than a woman's waste, have massive weapons and gelled hair :wallbash:. Even Sten is more proportional than any other massive men in other games, and he rarely speaks in a disturbing accent. (Yes I am a Alistair fan, only because I study Advance English and with constant analysis and critiquing book and movies for final exam that it has given me new light into the story of DA and it's characters)

I stated in another topic but BW is working on another patch. I don't know if it fixes Origin bits too but we need to give them time and hope that they would fix these bugs. I was disappointed with the continually of the game and the ease to beat this game. But love the dialog system as it feels more natural and forces me to use tab more (show all button) just hear all convos.

It is not that I don't like Anders and Alistair at all, ist just that the authors

for my taste got a bit carried away in the way of developing tham as walking

desaster areas - wich applies to Anders even more than to Alistair -

Just like Jar Jar in SW E1.

IMHO Daveth would have made a far more interesting heir - imagine his face

when he learns his old man was just his foster father and

that would just have been where the real fun begins

Anyway, a Morrigan~ as well as a Valenna voodoo doll for the player char

are on my wishlist  - I think the Alistair doll (feastday gifts) is way to far over the

top...

Putting an accidental quote posting to a better use...

One of the core issues with da o oc and the

xp / dlc content is the publisher's strategy

to sell the product slice by slice for the better

price.

I can only hope BioWare doesn't bleed to

death by silmutaneously working on many

Da O, ME2 as well as ToR projects and maybe

other stuff in the pipeline.

The patch delays are just the symptom, imho.

- to see what the final product, all future

xp and dlc installed, could be like, given that

BioWare still lives to deliver, just watch

the official trailers and look out for effects,

skills and abilities wich aren't currently

part of the game ...
