Glitch in Awakening intro?

I just bought Awakening via Steam, and I seem to have encountered a glitch. The first hint was when I walked right through the closed gate after the first battle on the road approaching Vigil's Keep. As a note, Im playing on Normal difficulty with a fresh character, and that was the only fight that occurred outside of the keep itself. Is there supposed to be more on Normal?

Once I got inside, everything seemed to be fine. The only fight was occurred was after the dwarf's bomb by the first gate. The only other fight was upon entering the first large room, where several Hurlocks and an Emissary attack. All seemed fine and dandy. Then I got to the room with the dwarf, where no fight occurred. I went to speak with him and all he said was an audio of "Talk later, it's Darkspawn killin time". The door near him was unable to be picked. I went and freed the last survivor, but the dwarf still isn't responding. I looked up a video of this segment and noticed that a fight occurred in that room (on Hard difficulty), after which the dwarf automatically entered dialogue.

I'm thinking that this may be caused by mods I'm using in the base game. Therefore, are there any known problems in Awakening with the following DA:O mods?:

Family Heirlooms

Innodils Pocket Plane

More Hairstyles

Natural Model

Natural Bodies

Personal Castle and Harem

Skip the Fade

If there are no known issues with those mods in Awakening, what else may be causing this game-destroying glitch?

I just read comments on some of the listed mods, and noticed that people have complained about the Pocket Plane mod conflicting with the Vigil's Keep segment somehow. However, someone said that the incompatibility prevents the player from opening the door to get to the dwarf... Not the same issue. I'll try disabling that mod and trying again. In the mean time, any other ideas?

It has to be either the Pocket Plane or Personal Castle and Harem mod, since those are the only two I didn't use on my playthrough, and it worked perfectly for me (on Nightmare difficulty). So try disabling both those mods and running through the segment, and the dwarf should automatically engage in conversation after combat.
