First House Mod; A few questions.

Hello Nexus forum goers. I am working on my first player home and I want to learn a few things that I can't seem to figure out on my own or find on google.

Question 1: How do you give an oven the ability to make/cook food? I tried using the "CookStove" object but that didn't seem to do it. I'm thinking it has to do with the script but I can't seem to find the cooking script in the drop down.

Question 2: How do you give a bed the ability to do things like restore limbs? Would that possibly have to do with scripting as well?

Question 3: How do you make sure that items don't disappear in the various containers that I use? This one is more just confirming what I've already attempted to do. I set the ownership of each container to "Player." Is that all I need to do? Does that even do anything?

Question 4: Is there any way to make sure items don't disappear when I drop them in my home in game? For example, say I want to display a unique melee weapon on a table and do so without it disappearing. Is that possible?

If you have any tips and advice for building your own player home, feel free to post. Things such as useful objects to put in your player home would be nice to know [e.g. a chemistry set (which I've already put in my home)]. I know I'm a bit late to the party here but I just started playing New Vegas again and I felt like making my own player home.

Also, I don't plan on uploading this player home since it's really not pretty looking. Maybe I'll try making a few mods when the next Fallout eventually gets released.

I got a fairly good tips, do NOT make any "bunker homes" why? well, another 1000 people thought of the same Idéa, one thing more dont fill it up with goodies. I mean sure if one most fight to earn them or if there is a hidden vault or such.

One thing that I do know people Love is when you can "active" stuff, like turn on/off lights or if you have to repair your home to make it look nice and so on :)

anyhow! good luck~

It wouldn't matter if I had made a bunker home since I have no plans of sharing my home. It's specifically for me. I also didn't fill it up with goodies. I didn't really put anything in the home at all. I just put a lot of containers, a bed, a clean sink and a working oven in it and that's about it. I already have a bunch of items (earned, not cheated) on the character so basically the home is for storage. I know I could have used a home made by someone else, which I was, but I simply wanted to try my hand at making my own. I had tried many times before in different games but I would lose my motivation really early on. Having finished this home, while not being a huge accomplishment to more experienced modders, is a huge accomplishment for myself.

I'll have to look into learning how to make things like working light switches and what not. I'm pretty much just learning my way around GECK currently. I do want to make more homes and maybe eventually venture into making other kinds of mods but for now I'm keeping it simple and only for private use. The only reason I'm not sharing this home is because it's really not pretty. I just made the home functional and to fit my personal needs. I hope no one takes that the wrong way. I'm really not doing it to be selfish.

Thanks!

Just figured I'd post a few pictures just so people can see why I won't upload it. xD

Sorry for how zoomed out the last picture is. I couldn't get it all in one and I didn't want to take more than one picture of it (since three is already enough). It's functional and that's what's most important to me. :)

Thanks! and maybe.

There are some things that I'd like to do with it prior to uploading it if I do decide to. Things like a very small quest in order to obtain the key to the house. I'm probably going to cut the whole bathroom out as well since there's no reason to have a bathroom that large. Either that or I'll find a better use for that space. I just want to take care of the stuff that I'm not personally pleased with as of right now.

This definitely won't be the only home I ever make so if I don't end up sharing this one I will for sure make others in the future that I will want to share and they won't just be in New Vegas.
