wghost81
habadabeer, I'm a Linux user myself, so I don't know how things work under Mac exactly. Try reaching Anderkent through PM, as he is the Mac user and the author of Mac install script. B14 is sure worth installing as it has tons of bugfixes and new features. Anderkent
habadabeer, you should drag the *directory* containing the script, not the script itself into the `cd` command.
wghost81
Anderkent, can you write an instruction for Mac users? So we could pin it somewhere to help people to avoid such problems?
dubiousintent
We have an "OS/X mod installation" section in the "Basic guide to installing mods" wiki article, which was originally derived from this thread. We can add any amplification and clarification there. -Dubious-
wghost81
dubiousintent, that's for manual install and some Mac users have problems with our Mac install script. Under Linux it's enough to unzip the package and run the install script. But under Mac some users get "path does not exist" errors for whatever reason. So the problem is LW specific. Or Mac shell specific. I can't say for sure, as I don't have access to Mac myself.
dubiousintent
No argument. Just saying that as that section contains the information as to the various folder locations (which I am assuming are used by the installer), it would be simple enough to put some clarifications there about the Mac LW installer; given as it is a very popular mod and that section is specific to Mac issues. Or we can create a separate page linked from there for the purpose. It just seems like that section is a logical place for a starting point when troubleshooting. -Dubious-
wghost81
dubiousintent, understood. We'll wait for Anderkent then.
habadabeer
Can anyone take me through installing the shell scripts step by glaringly obvious step, including specific files to use and where to find them, as well as trouble shooting potential error messages? I don't seem to be able to follow the recipe.
habadabeer
Thanks Anderkent! Sorry, my last cry for help was before I saw the other comments. You said to drag the "directory containing the script" into the cd command, but I don't know what a directory is. I see files and documents in the unzipped download. Thanks for your patience. wghost81
habadabeer, just a guess, but he probably meant unpacking the entire package into some directory and then dragging that whole directory into console.
