Two days ago I reinstalled Oblivion and SI,and patched them with both official and unofficial patches, then I instaled OBSE 0017b and OBMM 1.1.12-the one needed for the Darnified UI...I did all that and Oblivion wont start (it starts, but the loading bar wont fill)-when I open the Windows Task Manager the Oblivion is shown as Not Responding :((( Any advice?

There may be many reasons to why the game won't start.

In your case, it seems like one of your mods isn't functioning right, a problem I sometimes have (this usually happens when I install a ton of mods without caring for the mod order). You should try to find out which mod that's causing you problems by just deactivating mod after mod till the game start, then reinstall the game, remember to read the readme!!!

I only have Darnified UI installed,so I doubt its mod conflict....However,the Unofficial patches for Oblivion and SI appear as mods in OBMM....I think the patching order is the problem...Could someone tell me in which order did he install/patch and it worked?

Ok, a few things to do. Download and install BOSS so you never have to ask what the load order should be. Second, make sure you are running Oblivion from the OBSE loader and not the Oblivion Launcher. Third, if its your computer I recommend getting a program called gamebooster that when running shuts off everything your computer doesn't need running to play games, and after you are done you can make it turn everything back on.

You can also run the game with the OBMM Launch button, and if you have OBSE installed, which you do, it will pick up on that. People like to say "You don't have have to run it from OBMM!!!" It's true, you don't. But why not do it if the button is right there?

Maybe if you're having problems it could be a source. With me it works fine. Perhaps you should try running it from the OBSE launcher icon, as well as the Launch button in OBMM. Also, try upgrading to the very latest OBSE version. It's BETA, but I haven't had any problems because of that that I can tell. It's worth a shot for you, anyway.

What's your operating system? You say reinstalled. Are you sure you uninstalled it completely before? And I mean completely???

My operating system is Windows XP...But Oblivion was definitely uninstalled, because I reinstalled Windows 2 months ago...But there were problems when I installed it now.As a matter of fact,my game is not located in ''Bethesda Softworks'' , it is located in ''Bethesda Softworks1'' Why:When I tried to install the first time the installer bugged and I had to turn it off in Windows Task Manager...That screwed it up completely. The game managed to transfer 550 Mb of data,so I could not reinstall it,delete it or anything. It stood there,a monument to my stupidity, until I downloaded a program which helped me remove that files manually (I can't remember the name) And for some reason, the game refused to install itself into ''Bethesda Softworks'' so I simply renamed the folder. Thanks a lot for the uninstallation guide,I am going to apply it as soon as I get home (Thursday :@) I tried OBSE/OMOD combinations. They start, but the game wont. I think you missed my point.I succesfully used heavily modified Oblivion game with OBSE/OMOD installed during summer 2009,and it worked. What I DIDN'T use back then were the Unofficial Patches.I decided to do a complete uninstall using the BBens guide, and restart everything. Can someone post me the correct sequence how to install, patch officially, then patch unofficialy, because I obviously misunderstood something, and it messed up everything.

Well, I would put the blame squarely on the screwy install that happened. (I don't mean you, I just mean what ended up happening. It's not really your stupidity if the installer crashed. It's Windows.)

Sounds like you need to wipe every last 1 and 0 from Oblivion from your machine. The name of the directory shouldn't matter. The Data folder is the starting point for everything the game looks for. The crash is probably happening because of Windows getting confused more than anything else, I would guess.

The guide is an uninstall/reinstall guide, so it should tell you everything you need to know. If it doesn't, my order is the following:

Clean install of the vanilla game.

Shivering Isles.

Official Upgrade Patch

I don't have any KOTN or DLC, but I would do that here.

Run it and make all my settings and .ini tweaks established.

The Unnofficial Patch

Mods that don't use seperate .esps like Body Replacers or 3rd Person Animation in 1st Person View, for example

FCOM related mods

Mods that do use .esps besides FCOM

Deadly Reflex

This is my third install of the game.

You are probably right...Because Windows reads those 550 Mb of data files as a full game for some reason.... :/ When I tried to uninstall it,it said the setup is bugged etc. (Lots of frustration there) So I managed to kill off that data chunk, but it seems that it has returned from beyond the recycle bin :0 Well, going to try to purge everything and reinstall on Thursday....

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240

It covers several common uninstall & reinstall problems.

By making a copy of this after it works, you will have a backup if some mod totally ruins your data folder. It can save hours of work reinstalling.
