DagonTheranis
Now, I'm sure most of you have by now tired of the repetitive nature of Oblivion's voice. Every time you hear an NPC speak, you think "Did Bethesda only hire five voice actors or something?". What I hope to do with this mod is remedy that. Better Voices aims to replace a fair amount of the Voices for Vanilla Oblivion. Not so many that you would never hear the original voices, but enough that they are nowhere near as common. What we shall need for this mod is simple:Two or three people capable of editing the voice files into the game. This is because it's a long and boring job, and you'll need to teach me how to do it so I can share some of the weight :). Lots and Lots and LOTS of voice actors. Also, if you would like to help, but aren't either of the categories I mentioned earlier, if you could obtain transcripts of some of the dialogue in OB, as I don't have it all available, it would be appreciated. kieranfoy
I can do some funny accents. I was born with an Australian accent, and my Cockney's not that bad.
DagonTheranis
As long as you've got decent recording equipment (this includes a GH mike, as that's what I use), I don't mind what your voice sounds like. Are you in, Kieran?
kieranfoy
Well, now that I think of it, my sound recording equipment ain't hardly up to snuff. Sorry.
PrettyMurky
This sounds like an excellent idea to me! Would those with sub-standard recording hardware perhaps be able to assist with Argonian or Khajiit voices? As the natural huskiness of those voices might sound fine as long as theres not too much quality loss.

Vagrant0
"Did Bethesda only hire five voice actors or something?". Actually, it was a disc size issue. They clearly had lines recorded, they just didn't have the disc space to include them without using another disc or higher density media. Anyway, good luck with the project. Make sure you keep in mind the way that generic dialogues are used when figuring out how to work it. You might eventually have to do 1 voice for each race to get around having to rig certain NPCs to use certain sounds.

Why couldn't they release them as a "free expansion" pack for dialogs etc?I know it'll affect the console but hey, a free content that adds voices to it. It's also not as simple as just providing the voice files, they have to be linked to something. As is Bethsoft probably spent a month or two removing those very links just to make the game fit. They couldn't even release the voice files they had recorded but had to trash because then they would need to pay the voice actors. DagonTheranis
That's one of the reasons why I'm going to need dedicated voice actors, Vagrant. They will need to record a LOT of dialogue. However, I plan to make about 5 extra voices for each race. Also, everyone involved in a main branch of quests or with a unique voice will be left alone. I don't want PMs asking me if you can be Lucien Lachance, Jauffre, Martin, Baurus, Modreyn Oreyn, The Gray Fox or Hannibal Traven. However, if you want to make a character specific voice for anyone else, then it's fine. No SI NPCs at the moment, though.
