Braddoc
Hello everyone, I've been playing for a while took a break and back into it, level 17. I have the regular version of Oblivion and was wondering should I buy the deluxe version GOTY or go with all the mods that people are submitting? Does the GOTY deluxe have these nice mods already in the game?or can those only be seen by modding the game through the the mods; I.E the grass harvesting ingrediaents and showing them harvested etc...?thxBraddoc
Pronam
....?The GOTY deluxe edition includes all DLC, official (downloadable content) modifications that aren't shared publicly and have to be paid for. Goty or not, you'll always be able to download and install free non-offical mods...meaning the ones that are shared on this and other sites. The only reason to buy the GOTY deluxe is when you want the nine official DLC that it includes. Again, any other mod here can always be downloaded and added/played...with or without goty. BlackerrR
I think that users' mods are better, and free as well. Most of them are better than officials, can be more interesting and with more content. Bethesda's mods are good, it's true, but the real action comes from fans, we know what we want from mod better than Bethesda, i think so. But, if you buy (from any store) Knight of the Nine pluggin, you'll get most of DLCs, except Fighter's Stronghold. And it's cheap. Edited April 2, 2010 by BlackerrR
Thelios
If you are in the US, GoGamer dot com has Oblivion GOTY for PC, in their 48 Hour Madness Sale, right now, for $1.90 plus shipping! Yes, that is one dollar and ninety cents. Enjoy!
Pronam
Yeah, but that's the regular GOTY, which doesn't contain any of the DLC. Just the SI and KOTN expansion. A nice deal though

Megatarius
First of all, it's not a choice. Get whatever version you want. Mods will work fine as long as it's upgraded properly, which can be done for free on Bethesda's site. As for the GOTY add ons. You can get them separately if you already have the game. Don't be suckered into spending too much money.
razorpony
Also keep in mind that some mods require Shivering Isles to work properly, and some mods are tweaks and improvements over the DLCs. If any of these mods interest you then you won't be able to play them without the official content. I'd go ahead and grab it all if it were me. Wait, it was me... and I did. You should too. -Razorpony
bben46
If you buy the download through Steam only (Deluxe GOTY?) it does have all DLCs, Knights of the Nine & Shivering Isles. (includes Battlehorn Castle) The GOTY on DVD does NOT include the DLCs. It does have Oblivion, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles On DVD, The Knights of the Nine DVD contains all DLCs EXCEPT Battlehorn Castle. It does not have Shivering Isles. The Shivering Isles DVD only has the Shivering Isles expansion.
Pronam
True, SI and KOTN aren't really DLC for the PC version, I'll edit my posts. Steam offers a GOTY Deluxe edition that has Oblivion, SI, KOTN and all DLC.The other offer is a 'normal' GOTY version, that just contains Oblivion, SI and KOTN. Which is like the DVD GOTY version.
