Crash In Main Stories Quest

I find these type of bugs everywhere, mainly when quick traveling to the mages guild.

Firstly, do you have a bow equiped and out. If so, put the bow away. There is a bow bug that is very similiar to this.

EDIT : Oh, I forgot, if you are duping items using the bow trick, drop the duped items and then pick them up. I find that carrying duped items that havent been dropped and picked up usually leads to a consitant crash.

If you dont have a bow out and it's still crashing, try going somewhere else, like to bravil, go into a house then leave bravil [or where ever] and return to the castle.

IF it still crashes after that, load up your game, then quit Oblivion [dont let it exit via a crash]. Load up oblivion and try again.

IF that crashes too. Start up oblivion, create a new character, get through out and quick travel with the new character to the castle, and go into the castle. Now load your orginal game and try again.

Unfortunally thats about all the advise i can give you. If you find that this happens often, not just at that castle, and it's not just crashing your game but rather resetting your PC, let me know, that might be able to be solved another way.

That really sucks... been looking around other forums to see if anyone else has solved this, there is one that is clamed to work. Try turning all your settings down. Also turn off all mods/plugins you might have running. I'm really doubtful about this though, but worth a shot.

Of course you can try cheating...

Make the quest that you need to do is the active quest

goto the console (~) and type "movetoqt" without the quotes of course. This will teleport you to where you need to be in the castle. Yeah, it's cheating, but i'm sure you dont want to start over right?

As Ex128 says, try turning your settings down. It could be that for some reason that spot is heavier on your system than others, thus causing a crash.

Are you talking about the main quest? If so, then try going to Bruma, and speaking with the people in the chapel. You shouldn't have to do Skingrad.

I have similar problem, cause my PC sucks (what do i want from GeForce 5200 FX ???) :( so i needed to turn everything in .ini file down, particularly

bDoSpecularPass=0

bDoDiffusePass=0

bDoAmbientPass=0

then it will crash on some places and one of them is skingrad castle, i think there is a mod to fix it. i hope i helped you. i have a copy of original ini so when i encounter crash i load original ini and it works...
