Constant crashes

whenever I play the game, I experience random crashes, where the time in between can vary from not even a minute after I turn on the game, to a good few hours later, or it not crashing at all. I've experienced this since I got the game from Steam, long before I added mods, so is there a way to fix this so I won't have to constantly save, and replay parts that I lost from the crashes?

What are you sytem specs and what settings are you running on?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor

1024 MB Memory + 2 1 gig sticks of ram

250 gb hard drive

NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT graphics card

and I let steam auto detect settings which usually sets it to high, but lately it sets it to medium. It also sets the resolution too 800x600, but I usually change that to 1280x960

and my moniter is a 1280x1024

you are SOL

there are no fixes that actually "work" for this game. The only time it will not crash is if you happen to have a setup similar to what they tested it on.

I had been trying to fix exactly this issue for over a MONTH, even contacted Bethesda (they cant tell you anything helpful BTW).

ONLY THING THAT WILL WORK IS TO PLAY ON XBOX, i had to do this unfortunatly, and i miss the clarity and customization of the PC, but at least I can play.

FYI- I bought the GOTY edition, then contacted Bethesda and got my money back for defective merchandise. at first they wouldnt do it, saying "return it to the store", but open PC titles cannot be returned, and after several emails i convinced them that it would be easier for them just to give my money back, rather than sue them for whatever i could.

(as it has been proven that this game IS defective.)

I had many many more crashes before I fixed my codecs, if you notice it crash more with the radio on I would advise you to download and install k-lite.
