Changing view distance in render window

I'm trying to create a small worldspace (South Silverpine, if you must know), and it's proven difficult to edit a large number of the cells at once when I have to load a different exterior cell every 30 yards. Is it possible to increase the number of exterior cells the render window loads?

Yes, within the .ini, similar to how it can be done in game. There is however one major difference as it relates here. While loading more cells might seem like a good idea, it can seriously increase performance demands needed by the CS. This can cause stability problems even on a good system. Additionally, since more cells are loaded at a time, there are more cells being created around the area you are actually wanting to work on, which can increase mod size significantly as more and more cells are being generated. If you're going to increase it, you should not use a setting larger than 7, and should try to save your mod frequently to cut down on RAM usage.

If you're talking about objects fading out as you move further away, this can be handled by adjusting the clip distance in the CS options (need to play around with it a bit).

YOu wouldn't happen to know how to fix problems with the terrain texture 'edging' on certain parts of cells as well, would you? As in, while texturing, the texture stops and makes a straight line, then it textures in the default terrain.

That is probably a memory problem. Having more than the standard view distance can make it worse or more common. Usually, the cell is still being textured in that color/type, it just isn't displaying it right. Reloading the exterior (saving and switching to an interior before switching back) usually fixes it.

Thank you! It all works. No problems with crashing yet, I'm just working with bare landscape for shaping right now. I'll lower it again later.

May I also note that you have somehow, over the internet, managed to adopt the tone of a Jedi Master handing a padawan a lightsaber?http://thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/Dark/thumbsup.gif

I'll be sure to include more obscenities in the future then... Just to avoid confusion.

Yerp... you just handed your padawan a lightsaber but now some evil sith lord has come along and nicked it and is as we speak on his way to the Jedi Temple to massacre all the children. muha ha ha.

Ahem. Sorry. Couldn't resist. Actual reason for posting... thanks for the tip Vagrant, and for the original post Uberman. Saved me making one of my own.

Still having a bit of a problems.. In the middle of the village I'm making there's a quarter of a cell that refuses to texture properly.

I'm hoping to avoid any ghastly fixes.. Like putting a giant rock over it or something.. Any solution?
