Ultimate NPC Patching

Hi everyone :)

 

As a long-time oblivion player I have been really surprised that these suggestions have never been made.

I have some practical experience with modding myself. Apart from that, I am pretty much well aware of what is possible via modding or not.

 

Even after using the popular overhaul mods of Oscuro's, Maskar's and others there were some flaws that were left out.

 

It is absolutely crucial that ALL actors in the game should be affected by the same standards. For example, everyone should have access to the same skills, etc. While this is pretty much covered in oblivion, here comes some other npc self-maintenance issues:

 

1) Isn't it downright illogical that NPCs own armor but are incapable of repairing them? (Please do not suggest CM partners mod as it absolutely ignores the issue)

2) Even with all the patches there are couple tricks left to exploit which NPCs very easy to defeat, like:

- Most NPC do not have a survival strategy, all NPCs should have access to healing spells which they should be using mid-battle.

 

My point is that, if there is health, there MUST be a way for healing, if there is Armor, there must be a way to repair them.

(You can't have a car if you have no access to a car factory :blush: )

 

I would really love to see a mod which makes NPCs repair their weapons and heal themselves.

 

The suggestions made above is absolutely within the capabilities of oblivion

 

I sincerely hope some feedback from you guys.

I think what would make for some great gameplay, is a constant slow healing ability added for all NPCs (and player). Think of common FPS style in which you take damage but recover soon after. Though slow recovery would be more appropriate in Oblivion, so that potions and healing spells are still useful in dire situations.

 

I don't think all NPCs should have access to healing spells, as most aren't skilled in magic use. The alternative is potions. Though, as you know, they suck at using them and die with many still left untouched. A mod that forces NPCs to use restorative potions at low health/magic/stamina would be nice.

 

Anyway, I don't have any mods to recommend. If you should find something like you're looking for, I could use something like that in my mod I'm working on.

The sad part is that, there was one guy named Nekulor who actually tried improving AI and even made a project about that but found no support whatsoever while a lot of useless, crappy and buggy mods are constantly swarming in... :sad:
