phoneyLogic
Hey folks, Some Mods doesn't seems to get a lot of feedback. The Downloaders seems to be a very lazy folk (me included :whistling: ) and I wonder if we could give some kicking ass motivation. Example one, the draconian way  You only are able to re-download a mod after you rated it. Or, a way more positive stimulus Making the own rating history to a feature for the downloader. I've seen many People who downloaded a Mod and can't remember how's it called. So lets say we make the rating history more visible, like reminder or blackboard were everyone can pin his mods he/she enjoyed. Or, probably the most effective: shows some Pinups every 10th rating ... What's your opinion about it? Other solutions or suggestions? Is there even a need for it? tT
bben46
At one time we did require some feedback to rate a mod. Most of the so called feedback was useless. Great mod. Kewl, I like it. Good, So so, sucks and many more like that. Without some kind of quality filter that is what a large percentage of raters considered feedback. And we did have a write up of how to rate, and how to give feedback. It seems that many did not bother to read it before rating and commenting. You can't force people to think before rating. We tried and it just didn't work. Now we have a checklist to make it easy for those wanting to give a negative rating. If you really want to help the modders, make a comment giving real feedback - why you liked it, what you had problems with, what you did not understand and such. Be polite with your criticism. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
phoneyLogic
Hm, OK I see your point. But can we get a better rating system which is more usefull for the downloader? Not particularly only to encourage ratings, but to give folks a good reason to rate. E.g. it could work like the file tagging function we had or by giving another advantage, maybe proposals for similar mods or just a better reviewing of the download history... I think many downloads and few ratings tells me a lot about a mod. Mainly that it is OK, doesn't upset anyone but doesn't dazzle either. If it's something I really want and it has more thumbs up than down I'll grab it knowing at least it isn't likely to crash but I'm not going to want to rave to others how great it is either. :)
